pfc programmed with base mod map, still need help

hey guys, i know that ever car is different but i need help finding out what i need to do and where. i used the base mod map from this web site... http://pb.kenjim.com/pfc/
i used the pedro monzon map. i had to play with the duty clycle to make the wastegates close faster. i was spiking bad. well i took it out for my first third gear pull on the freeway and after 5500rpm's my defi boost gauge reads over 12lbs(while the PFC was set at 10). i check the PFC out and it read .91 bar. that is too much. what can i lower, raise, to bring hte boost down at those RPM's? also the only mod that i dont have that the map has is an intercooler. i was hoping it would be a little safer(rich). i manually entered all the info with the commander(what fun that was). when i did it i changed the INJ setting, the IGN-L setting and the ING-T setting. i dont know how, or if i can change the Split (IGL - IGT). that is the only thing that would have been left unchanged from the stock base map. can anyone help me out. i want to get it "close" as my dyno date is about a month away

Why not put the orginal boost and duty cycle setting back in and go from there?

What are you currrent boost and duty cycles? Increasing duty cycle affects/slows boost build up, but more importantly it reduces the change for over shooting your goal.

You really can't tune boost by RPM range without an aftermarket boost controller.

Be careful. Ask for AFR during that dyno run!

you and my dad are ohio guys. well i had the original duty cycles in there and i dont think they did much good. i guess that i can try them again and see what i get. what is the original duty cycle? just seems like i hit fuel cut in the upper rpms and would like to know what can be done to fix this. i guess i kinda just have to wait

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone described why the target boost for secondary is lower than primary? Is it to control spiking? Target pre-spool boost, perhaps?

wait a second, that would explain why i dont look anything like my pops. he was pissed when cleveland blew the win to pittsburgh. well thanks for the setting, i will throw those in there and cross my fingers. how do i adjust the split timing(IGNT-IGNL???) that is the only thing i failed to change. i hit about 6K and it feels like fuel cut as it stumbles to reach higher rpm's and really starts spiking at those points. could i have too much fuel in those areas?

Haven't used the stock boost control system in while, just getting my head back into it -- Raising the duty cycle will raise the boost, IIRC. If the solenoid is open a larger percentage of the time, it will vent more air, reducing pressure in the wastgate actuator, raising boost. Try lowering the duty cycles to see if that lowers the boost.

If it doesn't, or if you get to an extreme end of the adjustment range, you could install larger "pills" (larger orifices). Holley carb jets work well, something around #65 should be a bit bigger than the stock ones. You could also install valves, but I never liked having a little **** that someone could turn while I wasn't looking and blow up my car.

You cannot adjust split by directly entering a plit value in the Commander. It is just the difference between the IGL and IGT values, so you can change one of those to change split. However, if you entered all those values from a map, your split will match the split from the maps you entered. It is just two ways to look at the same settings.

If the car is really opened up in the intake and exhaust, you might be getting some boost creep.

If you've tweaked your IGN settings that 6K stumble could be something that you've influenced. Or, like it was in my case, it was not enough ignition getting to the plugs. Changed the wires, plugs and added an HKS twinpower and it's FINE.

Those settings for boost control were the stock-base map ones (circa 707).

thanks for the input. i pulled the pills completely and now i have 8 lbs in first turbo and second still sees about 12-13 with .7bar(10lbs) set on the PFC. i was thinking of a profec B as a boost controller and just using the PFC for fuel and mapping. again, your thoughts

Profec B is a rock solid controller.

But I'd make sure everything works correctly at or neat stock.
