PFC noob question

I'm about to hook up my PFC, but I just noticed for the first time, the little black box that's bolted to the stock ecu bracket. Does the PFC replace this too, or do I still use it? What is it?

That little black box is part of the FD cooling system recall fix. It allows turning on the cooling fans by grounding the unused black male spade connector.

This is the connector use for the "FAN MOD" modification. Turns on the fans to one speed more than it is currently running. If turned on two minutes before shutdown of a hot engine, the fans will run for 10 minutes for post shutdown cooling.

This has been around for about 10 years!

Might be why i don't have one. My car has 37k miles and was basically a one owner.
Guess I need to check into all the recalls for mine.
