PFC learn process? cant find idle?
i just installed my Apexi power fc and let my car sit for a while. right when i started it it was idling around 1900-2k rpms. about 5-10 mins later it fell to 1700 rpms. then another 5-10 mins it fell to 1500 rpms. after that it would go from 1500 to 1700 like every 5 mins. i let it sit there for about 35 mins. idle is set to 800 like normal on the commander and i messed with the idle screw under the throttle body. before i installed the pfc, the car was idling perfectly. does anyone have any ideas?
thanks,
Craig

alright you need to tighten the screw on the trottle body completly...than the car should spudder, from there open slowly, about 3 and a half turns or so, you;ll hear the motor...as for the PFC steve kan tuned/set mine to 950, not saying that you should do that but maybe try it...
p.s. make sure it fully warmed up

Most FD RX-7s when running a PFC need some help with idle adjustment. It is YOUR responsibility to know basic engine tuning adjustments for a stock engine before modifying your car.
Check the manual, it shows two ways to do it.

Hi. Search on a thread in the 3rd gen section started by TomsR1. Clayne gave us the step by step there.
Start as r1dreamer said by adjusting the screws, then you let it idle for 10 minutes with nothing on. Then you turn on rear defroster and let idle for anothe r10 minutes. Then you turn on something else (I forget what maybe a/c?) and let it idle for another 10 minutes. After that I'd recommend turning on the lights for another 5 minutes or so and let it adapt to that.
I followed the steps exactly except for the headlights at the end took it for a drive. It idled fine till night time came around and I had to turn on the headlights. It was fine after a few days though.
I suggest getting a good voltmeter and also checking your TPS. There is a good writeup on that in the 3rd gen advanced tech section. Search on it. I think damian started it.

Yes, do the idle learning process first but even after that it will take some driving for the unit to really get to know your car. Mine had trouble catching the decel. RPM and the car would almost stall so I adjusted the RPM settings initially but after driving around it works much better. The other thing, check the switch sensor mointor to make sure they all work, especially the clutch switch. Mine was dead and the car stalled when I pressed the clutch in. After you've given the unit this chance to learn then adjust the idle manually but it sounds like the box and not the hardware - as it was working just fine before.
