Question Coolant correction maps.

I've been working some bugs out of my new set up. I am new to a power FC after a few years with a purple box. I am seeing temps of 103-111c with a mazda comp rad, FMIC and Evans NPG+. I have been searching around and looks like I should not be over 100c. I have been told that I might need to adjust my fan temps through the power FC with a dataloggit. Also that my "coolant correction maps" might be off. I was hoping that someone could explain the "coolant correction maps" and also tell me if I am able to adjust the fan temps without a dataloggit as I do not have one. I did search and was not able to find the exact info i was hoping for. Could anyone shed some light on any of this for me?

TIA
-Dave

A friend with a single turbo, M2 large SMIC, and upgraded radiator; runs Evans.
We live in Houston. Two weeks ago we were doing 3rd gear AFR runs and his water temps were from 90-92C. This was in about 90F air temps. He has his fans set to come on earlier than the stupid stock points that Mazda and the PFC use.

You need the datalogit to reset the fan set points, and the other WATER TEMP or AIR TEMP tables. Such ones affect fuel, timing, and oil injection.

The only WATER TEMP table accessable with the commander is the cold starting/warmup table.

Boostman,

You need the Datalogit to fix up the fan on/off temps... easy fix to do that.

As for the coolant correction maps... someone is steering you wrong there I think. That will affect how much FUEL is injected based on water temp... it does not do anything to help keep the water temp itself down.

If you have high temps under normal just cruising around driving, I'd suspect air in the system or poor airflow (you have a front mount right?). Is your water pump belt slipping (probably not, you would hear it). Is your timing completely crazy?

Anyhow we should get together and look it all over...

Thanks for the input. I as going to swap the thermostat just incase. Also I am not confident that my thermo sensor connection is good (I swapped to a miata one) so its possible the connection was not the best since I did not soilder them together. I will correct that. I don't think it should be an airlflow issue. I asked around some and others with the same parts i.e. intercooler and similar radiators would not see over 100c. I also would love to adjust the fans with the dataloggit. Problem is I dont have one and I can't get the car up there to your house Brian. Could I con you into coming down this way? I'll BBQ or something and make it worth your while.
