pfc headache!
I have been patient with this ecu, but I'm about to throw it as far as I can! I just finished a single conversion and purchased a pfc to run it. I've let the car run for long lenths of time to allow it to learn, but it doesn't seem to work. The car has that bounce that everyone talks about, and I've tried everything I've read on this board. It idles fine with the ac on which doesn't make sense, and puffs a quite a bit of black smoke at idle. It has a base map for my set up so now I don't know what else to do with this PLUG AND PLAY ecu PLEASE HELP.

Your setup needs some fine tuning on the dyno along with using a wideband. You can't run the base maps with your setup, it was never intended to be used that way. The base maps are good for basic bolt on products. You could also send out your Power FC to XS Engineering to tune the Power FC for you. If you are going to put it on a dyno, I strongly suggest to let someone who has a lot of knowledge to tune it for you.

do not send your pfc to xs...contrary to what reckless says....i did that and it came back so fucked up that detonation was pop pop pop pop and about blew my new ceramic seals through my new motor and out my new turbos....screw tune by mail...I dealt with that twice and now I simply tuned it myself using the maps from this forum as a base and adjusted according to where i felt i needed fuel...at least it runs strong now and is not detonating...i tuned it very rich...but not rich enough to bog it down....
you will have better luck with your own hands than those at xs by mail.
i wish i had pictures of how much smoke barrelled out my rear using those xs maps...not to mention the non seq setup for my seq ballbearing twins....i think they just threw out my list of specs and put in whatever the hell they wanted.

can I delete the map that SR programmed? Will the maps that APEX provide always be saved? My other concern would be that I'm running a t-88 along with all my fuel upgrades, 1300 seconderies, supra pump, regulator, and a front mount ic. Can I tune with the base maps that they give you? I'm only planning on running 15 psi this year.
thanks

Just go out and try it . get a co driver to monitor your air fuel gauge while under wot. Start at 10 lbs and keep increasing boost (slowly) until you are out of the 12:1 range. Then back it off 2 psi. Let me know how it goes.

The idle fluctuating is nothing more that an adjustment on the air adjustment screw, basically the PFC works more efficient than the factory ECU so it doesn't need as much air, adjust the screw and that should fix the idle problem if you have any. As far as tuning goes that's something else and you should get it tuned for your setup, use a datalogit, it'll let you adjust everything alot easier.

Well, I installed a PFC with an XS T04E kit about 3-4 months ago. XS was supposed to put in the base single turbo map, but didn't so I too am using the single map from the forum, & it seems to be working out ok.
As for the idle, I had the same fucked up bouncing & 1500rpm idle etc. It's now just starting to settle down within the past 2 weeks or so. Be patient, it will settle.

My idle recently just settled down as well. It seems like the PFC will need to learn at normal idle, idle with electrical load 'on' (EL), and also idle with a/c 'on'. Before it used to idle fine at normal, and fluctuate with a/c 'on', now I have been driving with a/c on all the time it learned and settled down. Whew!

You can try giving Xcessive a call, they have a dyno, they're located in Hillsboro OR. I know it's not exactly next door, BUT I can guarantee you that you will be very pleased with the results, the phone# is (503)-693-2879, ask for Ralph, he's got really good experience in tuning the Power FC on a rotary, he's got a FD that dynoed 600RWHP, with no other power adders, with no problems.
