ordered a new powerfc with comander last night,
now i wonder, how will it work when i get it? is it blank or does it have some base maps in it so i can drive, how do i tune it? my car has catback and intake, is it difficult to tune for these mods mysef? all i want for now is a little morre boost,
gona do some other mods later.

is it possible to download maps form the web??

It comes pre-loaded for catback and intake - just plug it in and have fun. The car will actually run about a zillion times better with the PFC than it ever did with the stocker .

I'm thinking of going PFC, but there is not a single tuner for rotaries around, so I'd have to depend on a map from someone else and then finetune it via datalogit.

'mail order' tuning, in any shape or form, is never a good idea - but plenty of people do it (seems to me the danger zone is waaay to close with FDs though...). For a car with a midpipe, you could risk using someone else's map - but only use it to take the car to your nearest pfc tuner (even if that is interstate). You won't regret a good tune

I gotta say - I recently plugged my pfc in for the first time - and was stunned by the instant difference in idle (perfect!). The car was purring like a kitten

would it make any difference if i got my pfc from srmotorsports, told them i had intake, dp, catback, IC and will be putting on 20b fuel pump and MP. i will be porting my wastegate within the next week or so as well. would i be fine or should i have it properly tuned in the near future?

are you 100% sure it is just plugandplay with catback and intake?
how will the car act different? i mean to have heard that the stock ecu is 8bit and the powerfc is 16 or 32bit?

I got mine delivered (in japan) for the equivalent of US$720 (with commander) - there are some very low (new) prices if you shop around.

do a search on yahoo auctions japan. Good luck getting them to ship to you though... however, there are people out there (not me) who buy and sell on yahoo for foreigners.

you could also flick through option magazine/drift tengoku, etc (if you can get your hands on those magazines), and try one of the bigger parts shops (some will send overseas) - their prices are always competitive and often way below rrp.
