Question Newbie still to the PFC (Please Help)

I just got my PFC and it is great. I love how it smooths out the entire feel of the car. The car runs and feels so strong now. But unfortunately today my car ran all the way up to 110 on the PFC. I pulled over to try and figure out what was going on and found out that my cat was clogged up. So now that I have the PFC I have the ablility to do away with the cat completely instead of having to buy another cat just to have it clog up again Anyways I am buying a resonated 3' stainless steel midpipe from pettit. How do I adjust the PFC to accomadate this new mod on my car without hurting the engine? I currently don't have time to dyno so I need something that will run the car safely until I have time to get to a dyno (a couple of months). If anyone knows where I can get maps for my car please let me know. Also if anyone knows where to get cheap midpipes that would be great also (I would prefer resonated because I live in a small neighborhood with lots of old people....don't need the extra attention from police).

Here is a list of my mods and e-mail address(I will put these mods in my sig later this evening)

- SR Motorsports 3' Stainless Steel Downpipe w/ EGT
- Apexi GT Spec cat-back exhaust
- Apexi Intake
- Pettit resonated 3' Stainless Steel Midpipe

Basically I will have a straight exhaust and open intake and need the PFC to run the car safely. my e-mail address is hydouken@aol.com

I need help asap because I can't drive the car anywhere with a clogged cat.

Don't expect the resonated midpipe to be much quieter than a non-resonated one.

Click on the maps section above and find one for mods similar to yours.

I have already looked at the page you mentioned. But the mods I see are similar to mine except they either have a ported motor, non-seq,or an intercooler. Most of them are pretty heavily moded. I am not quite there yet. I have just enough mods where my stock ecu can't handle it anymore. Thats why I bought the PFC but I can't seem to find any maps to replace the ones I have to accomodate the new midpipe that I am about to install. I need something to run the engine safely ( I don't have access to a dyno right now.....I will in a couple of months). Once I get to a dyno I will tune for more HP. Thanks adax for the info does anyone else have the same mods as me? Someone has to have the same mods as me with a PFC. I have my mods listed above so if you could please share I appriciate any info you knowledgeable PFC owners have ( flattery will get you everywhere)

You could try the one with the streetport, it will just run a bit rich if its tuned well and maybe to the rich side, but that way you will have something safe to use in the mean time.

Well if it comes down to that I will use those maps. But I am hoping that someone out there with a PFC has close to the same mods as me. Also I heard running too rich isn't a good thing either. One misfire when running too rich is the same as running too lean. Thanks for the info Smilez. Please someone out there help out a NEwbie

I don't think just changing your exhaust is gonna affect anything that much. If you are running the base maps it will support your exhause modifactions already and they run on the rich side so you will be safe until you can get to that dyno.

Question

I thought that the maps that came with the PFC would only support INTAKE,DOWNPIPE,CAT-BACK. Anything else woud need to modify maps alittle to compensate? Then I hear other people saying that the PFC would support INTAKE,DOWNPIPE,MIDPIPE,CAT-BACK. So whos right? The person I bought it from (band new)told me that it would only support the frst set of mods that I listed.....safely and would recommend changing them if I installed a midpipe.

Personally I thing you could take the exhaust sytem off and the maps would support it just fine. Changing the exhause system does not require changing the settings on the fuel, at least not forf safety reasons, there might me some changes you would want to make to maximise the potential of your new exhaust system but this is tuning and you will have to experiment There is no magical formula to making the most power.

So what your saying is that i would run safely with the straight exhaust on the car. But i wouldn't get the optimal HP out of the exhaust system until i could get to a dyno and tune it. But i would gain some HP once i put the exhaust on my car as it sits just not the most i could get out of it........correct?

I think that is pretty close. Keep in mind that you may experience boost creep issues...that could be the killer.

I fabricated an orifice plate for my midpipe to add a restriction and eliminate the creep I had when I first installed my MP.

Just keep an eye on it.

Would a presilencer on my exhaust be enough backpresure to insure a lower perentage off boost creep?
