Newbie n PFC world.. Question N Advice please:
Hello everyone.
to give a little background on on myself.
I am original owner of a 93R1 @ 125k on
original motor and turbos. My Mods will
be listed in Sigs. I recently (last 2years)
started modding my FD3s. I was totally in
the street bike scene.
This PFC w/commander will be my 4th ecu upgraded
I have tried. Last year I bought a used Purple PMC
and a New PMC from PF, neither worked. Would
not cut my fuel cut. returned both. Then got
Reprogrammed ecu from re amemiya. I sold that
because I didn't like being totally blind/no input
with the ecu operations. Now I am now in the world
of PFC's.. I installed the pfc 3 days ago been driving
around in it (most miles I put in my FD3S in years) looking watching and testing the PFC. I also have
been non stop reading post from last year to now for the last 3 days. I am new and things are still kinda fuzzy to me.. Sorry newbie @ beggining of learning curve. Sorry about the redundant/annoying same questions. But i would like to ask questions nevertheless. So much info kinda hard for the brain
to digest it all.
Anything I should know, or relevant about the
version i currently own?? any bugs or oddities
or any info on my version?? I got:
PFC version 5.08
Commander 5.00a
I was messing around looking thru some stuff on the
commander. And I accidently changed some values
some where, but i dont remember what the values were
so I took a guess, and I am hoping that i exited out of
the change with out makign the changes to the pfc.
I guessed what the value should/could of be. and Preessed " Prev" hoping it would exit me out with
out saving.. To save values. do you press "NEXT" after
the change?? or does hitting "Prev" save???
According to the previous owner, he bought the PFC
from SR Motorsports and was tuned for everything
I currently have on my car. From reading and research,
those maps that the pfc have probably(not sure) but
the PFC Base Mod Maps.. How can I be sure?? or verify?
About changing boost levels:
Ok where ever you leave the cursor @ boost settting
is what the PFC is going to use.. OK.. And to change boost(Target boost) just change the KG/CM^2 up or down for the target boost. and adjust the #% so the PFC can get to the boost, Higher # for higher boost
and Lower % for lower boost. and Basically do run and watch boost and adjust accordingly to get to Target boost. Do i make sense??? Right now my settlings are:
1. Pri .80 kg/cm^2 56%
scd .75 kg/cm^2 64%
2. pri .90 kg/cm^2 62%
sec .80 kg/cm^2 70%
Can someone translate that to how much PSI
i am suppose to get?? and to tell me if the %
ok with the Targeted boost?? Bsically does
it look right?
I would really like to see/how? what kind of map
i am running?? How do i check that? compared to
base maps.
I am scared to tinker with it due to the fact, I have
no clue. and I don't want to mess anything up.
basically I am here with my fingers crossed hoping
everything is programmed properly so i don't blow
my motor. I do'nt want to reset the pfc. becaues
i really not sure if it the base maps been changed
and stored or not..
I read but still lost about the O2 stuff.
I replaced my O2 sensor from oen at RX7.com
when I installed the DP. from reading. you guys
say that O2 readings aren't reliable and only vaguely
tell you true #'s and may cause wacked idle and etc.
So Do you guys TURN the O2 sensor on or OFF or no??
Keep it on or off?? whats yoru opinion???
Last question, and sorry about long post:
What should I look/fee/notice about my car
to check if its running/operating properly???
Are their any tell tale signs of bad tune??
or need adjustments?
Thanks in advance
Sean

Oops I forgot one question..
IF I up or down my boost..
Will the PFC change fuel maps according to the
boost i set it at?? Or do I have to go in and
do that myself???
Thanksagain

No your fuel and ignition maps stay the same no matter what your boost settings are. And your target boost and duty % don't have to be exact. The PFC will conpensate and make the corrections.....you just have to be close. If you are holding the "target boost" level that you have preset then the PFC is functioning properly as far as boost controls go. Hope this helps you out. Because i need someone with similar mods to my car so that I can use there maps
please help me!

14.5 psi = 1.0 kilos
Start using kilos and get a boost gauge that reads kilos so that you can understand how your PFC is reading this(plus it's a bitch to be dividing in your head on the fly!)
If you go to the map trace, and rail on your car, then change your boost settings, you will see how the car reads fuel/boost.
If your boost doesn't increase, then the PFC will not go into that part of the map. When(or if) you do, it will go to the block that is closer in proximity and adjust fuel from there.
