Is the main POWER FC unit universal for many Japanese models?
Hi all. Just a quick question...
As the title says I want to ask if the main Power FC unit is universal.
A friend sells his power fc with the old commander which was installed on an EVO 6.
Can I use it with the new commander and the proper FC3S harness for my S5 turbo? Here is a photo.
I'm having a hard time figuring out what you're asking....
commanders are not universal unless it's the universal commander, theres one model I believe.
the power fc itself, the actual plug into the car part, is not universal. They are chassis/engine specific. As in you cannot use an fd power fc in an integra.
But from what I understand, you can use an fd power fc in an fc if you use that adapter harness. So theres your exception...

Thanks for your reply. Forgive me for not providing the right info. I just found out that there is only one POWER FC unit for RX-7s (part # 414BZ004), right? So the main unit that is used for FDs can be used with the proper extras (proper commander and harness) for turbo FCs. But as you said I cannot use an EVO unit to an RX7

I thought that the main unit was universal and that it can be used in all Japanese cars. Thank again bro.
As stated, you can't run a PowerFC made for one car on another car. An Evo or Nissan S13 PFC won't work on an FD and vice versa.
There are different versions of the FD PFC since the wiring harness changed over the years, that's addressed in the FAQ with the model numbers to look for. If you want one for an FC you probably want an FD3S4 for use in an FC, that's the most common one out there. It uses the universal commander as well.
