Lines per second Dataloging?
I was wondering how many lines per second you guys are logging and what determines how fast it samples? I am doing 3-4, but would like to do more. My computor is very slow, and noticed that I am logging lots of sensors and stuff I dont really care about, so is there a setting telling the computer what to log.

3-4 lps is about average for a P1 running up to 133mHz.
You can try logging fewer datapoints but I have found that on my AMD100 or P1 75 I can't log much more than 5 lps anyway. Fster computers will log out up to 35 or 40 lps. For the most part though 3-5 lps is plenty information.
The datalogit allows you to check the parameters to log. You can find the checkboxes when you click on the monitor view. The screen is divided into many boxes and represents sensor groupings. Just about the START, END, RESET,SAVE buttons there is a box marked datalogit. Just go ahead and check the boxes relating to the parameters you actually want to monitor

Damn Chuck, 31 lps, I thought I was doing good with 18(logging everything). I have found that amount of RAM that you have makes more difference than processor speed. I have a p3 450 with 496meg of ram and it pulls more lps than the celeron 1.5 gig with 256meg of ram times 2. I put 512 in the celeron 1.5 and it is 1lps more than the 450. I also have a P300 with 128meg of ram and it max's out at 11lps only logging map ref, basic, and wideband. Brand/model makes a difference also, because I have a Compaq celeron 1.5 and a Toshiba 1.5 with very close specs and the Compaq only gets 13lps and the Toshiba pulls 18lps. Compaq laptop has now been demoted to wife duty.

~34 logging basic, map ref, and AUX
~25 logging basic, map ref, AUX, and advanced
With the higher resolution I can see the reaction time of the wideband, etc. It really helps to see where the peaks are and whats causing them. Mostly it seems to be erronious data that I just toss out and end up with a solid repeatable average. I really can't see logging only 3-4 LPS.
It is a PIA to log by myself though. End up with a couple thousand lines when I'm only intersted in a couple hundred.
