Intake Temperature hot?

Can anyone plz tell me what is the normal range for intake temperature? I have been tracking mine on the comander, and have seen it as high as 61deg. celcius. is this within normal range?

Really depends on what you are doing and what IC you have. I'm assuming you have a stock IC so yeah 61C would be pretty normal, especially in traffic.

It is very common knowledge that the location of the IAT sensor under the upper intake manifold heat soaks and reads hotter than it should. The JDM COSMO had it in the plastic throttle body elbow. Why not also the FD?

Moving it to the throttle body elbow helps to reduce heat soak and gives a more accurate reading. With a FMIC, moving the sensor to the IC outlet pipe is the most accurate location posible. Doing so for my FMIC, my temps dropped about 10 degrees immediately. This then requires using the Datalogit to replot some of the AIR TEMP vs xxx tables.

if u're from a very hot country like mine... or when during summer time of 37 degrees celcius...

it's not strange to see 90 over when the car is very hot and not moving... but trapped in a traffic jam as the exhaust from the front car is helping your intercooler to make the air temp hotter..

This is one of the things my welder and I considered when it came time to make the manifold for the Holset H1C swap. Also we made a heat shield out of inconel that was attached to the front of the block off plate on the LIM. Howard, what is your opinion on the position and type of block off used to combat this heat?
