i fought the mazda dealership and won

Last Friday I went to court against a mazda dealership here, sueing them for incompetence basicly. Great guys, they just don't know the 3rd Gen like they should. All said and done, I spent almost 10 grand with them for a new engine and turbo. At the time I didn't know dick all about the cars or anyone who did. Now I'm fairly knowledgable about the car and have 2 excellent mechanics in my area and am going to start over. As of right now I have a DP, MP, CB, upgraded vac lines (high temp rubber) that are wiretied (high temp also) and a PFC. I will be buying an IC and pulleys at the very least to start with. The engine is going to be sent out to Hays in Washington for a Med Street Port. I'm really excited to get started on the car and will keep you all posted on my progress. I'm sure I will have tons of questions as well.

Thanks for the read,
Cam

Congats on you win against Mazda!!!!!! I know there are alot of people that should have also done that instead of just bending over and taking it.

Now about your motor. I've heard bad things about Hays rebuilds. Since your in TN there is a guy that builds good motors and he is pretty close to you. If you contact Spyfish007 on the forum he can tell you about him. Carson (Spyfish007) got a rebuild there for a awsome price. Maybe I'll call Carson and ask him to post here, I'm not sure of his email right off since I'm at work......and working hard as you can see lol

If you post your email maybe he will email you.

Good Luck,
STEPHEN

Thanks for the congrats....now we just have to see if they contest it or not.

One of my buddies had a Hays rebuild and the bearings went out on him...they warrantied the work and he has it back in and running....I don't think its broken in yet though.

I wonder if the rebuilder is the same person that Vince at Performance Garage spoke of in Knoxville. I'm really interested in other avenues because of the time it took Hays.

Thanks again
Cam

he isnt the only one thats had probs with Hays rebuilds. I dont think I've ever heard anyone say good things about a Hays. Maybe the satisfied customers just dont hang out in the forum but there are pleanty of other good builders that are much better than Hays.

Carson was very pleased with his rebuild and got a awsome price. Dont quote me but I'm fairly sure it was under 2K. If I were you I'd email Carson and talk to him about it. You can get his email from his website.

BTW - what about the labor to pull and reinstall the new Hays as well as shipping? Did Hays pick up the tab for all that as well or was he out the $$$.

STEPHEN

I wonder if Carson needed anything other than machining....is it a ported engine? I'm going to have to email him.

They guy I'm refering to is an AWESOME mechanic. He did the R&R himself but I am pretty confident that he was NOT reimbursed for his time or shipping.

Who are some other builders?

Take to Vince and get Shawn's number, he is the one that rebuilt Vince and Carson's (spyfish007) motors.

I got bit by Hayes also. They did a Street Ported 12A for me about 4years ago. After about 25K miles the oil seals started going . They have perfect timing since my warranty ran out at 24K miles, coincidence??? They must have awesome R&D to get the seals to deterioriate right after the warranty expires.

My car is meticulously maintained by me, so I know things are done right.
Oh well, you live and learn, right ?

I've owned my FD for over 6 plus years, 5 of which I've been on the big list, as well as the forum, and our local mazda speed shop who have dealt with Hayes------don't use them. period.

Sweet, a Nashville shop. Just a 3 hour drive from Louisville! Now let's hope that I don't need his services anytime soon.
