How to updata the old version basic map to new version basic map

Hi guys I'm getting a used power FC, I want to get it installed first before I get the car to dyno tune. Is it safe to drive it with the old version basic map ? Or update to the new version basic map is better ?

You need a lap top with the Datalogit software on it and the Datalogit hardware box.
