how good is FD base map?

i am about to get a powerFC with the base map and i'm wondering how good the base map is... i was looking in the 3rd gen dyno section and noticed that several people dynod straight off of the base map with mods, which seemed a little weird. is the base map really that good?

also, i have these mods:

apexi intake
downpipe, hiflowcat, catback
stock ports, stock fuel.

what kind of power should i expect to make on a dyno at about 11-12psi?

The stock map is so rich, that you can go about three mods before needing tuning.
Your mods will be OK. The question is will your PFC have the stock or mod base map. Some come with the mod base map which is oversafe for a close to stock engine.

What about driving under no-boost conditions with the stock map?

I have the mods in my profile, but I'm switching back to 9.0:1 rotors in my engine and I need to return to a different map for cruising. Is the stock map adequate for driving around in pure vaccum while I break in my engine with those mods?

Been looking closely at my map and a few others. And to be honest the base map(with mods version), is VERY close to my map which is doing the job very well indeed. So I would say is a very good base map for zorst filter mods.

Huh?

I ran the base mod map for about a year with similar mods to the original poster (with the addition of an small SMIC and y-pipe) and it runs quite rich for me - down to 10:1 AFRs under high boost. Not optimal for power, but it will certainly keep your engine safe. To get better power, it should be tuned for 11 or so AFRs. See Chucks's threads for details.

The Base Mod map on the above website is a VERY good place to start IMHO if you have modifications such as induction, decat, twins, front mount, and stock fueling.

This map is something VERY,VERY close to whats in my car running 0.8bar of boost and it pulling like a steam train, with low knock count, and been running fine for over a year, and covered several miles.

Sorry - but I was referring to the term 'zorst filter mods'. Is this an English expression?

Agree with above the fueling will be safe with this map, but a great place to start, scary thing is my fueling was/is even richer.

The timing, is about on the money though, which is the more difficult to get right IMHO.

I was running AFR of low 10's with this fueling. Early 11's is what I am now targetting with my wideband.

And where can I buy these zorst things? I have spent a lot of time in the UK and read loads of UK car magazines and have never heard this term.
