hitting the boost cut like a maniac

I haev my boost settigns basically stock, but I am hitting the max on it every time I accelerate in 3, 4th or 5th. Should I lower the duty? Or does it matter. I am just thinking that it will kill performance when it is blippnig back and forth becaseu it won;t go any higher. if I set it to .9 I just hit .92, and boucne around it.

Any of your guys with a lot of mods, running base map ignition maps for a reason??

hehe, right!

midpipe was latest addition.

I know I can just lower it, but believe I really shouldn't have to. I think I may have problem with WG or something. Or maybe I need it ported.

For some people, they don't get boost creep with a dp and midpipe, some do.

I think that the main way will be by porting the wastegate to be a little larger so that excess boost can be relieved.

Are you sure its not fuel cut??? That would not be so good.

I am having the same problem. I have a Intake, Cat-back, Highflow Cat and a Downpipe. I know it is the boost limiter because it only happens when the boost gets above or around 11psi.

I am just going to turn the boost limit up to 12psi and hope that solves it. The only problem is that my F@*(ing commander is still on backorder after 8 months.

Sorry had to vent

Black93REW - You shouldnt be hitting boost cut at such low boost levels with a Power FC, even using the base map with no controller.

KZ1 - Do you have any other modification for boost control? Have you ever changed the pills are do you run the stock pills? It seems most people have been able to control thier boost with the Power FC and a midpipe. I havent had a prob and was even running 12psi all the way from 2500rpm's - redline with no creep or spike!!! Now I've turned it up to about 13.5 psi with no spike. I'm sure there is a reason your hitting the spike.

What are your figures in the boost section? Are you running map 1 or 2 and what are all the data figures?

Later,

I am not getting a spike (actually I get a small dip), my settings for base duty, etc. are the base settings, let me remmber...1st 56, 64. 2nd 62, 70. max settings are .80 and .90.

I knwo the PFC will cut the boost or fuel (whatever it does) to limit the boost to .025 above the setting on the PFC. My problem is that without fail, wether in 1st or 2nd seetting, I hit the .825 or .925 repectively. I just don't like seeing it do that because I know the computer is backing off, instead of venting it. I know I can probably lower the duty to compensate but I don't think many people have to do that. from what I know I have stock pills, I can't buy them, nobody know s the real sizes of them. Mine are not jets but actual pills. ported wastegate sounds like good idea, but why would I have to do it if nobody else does? must be something else ary. Unless this is normal, I don't know.

Thanks

Boost creep is caused when the wastegate is not physically able to dump enough of the boost. The wastegate is open all the way but it just isn't enough. So, changes to the control of the wastegate won't improve the situation.

If it is really boost creep that is plauging you, you have to change something physical, like restricting the exhaust or opening up the wastegate. A plate with a 2.5" hole in the exhaust somewhere might work (bolt it inbetween your midpipe and catback, for instance). For the wastegate, you have to take the turbos off and then enlarge the wastegate hole and trim the back of the door so it can open more.

I have a ported wastegate and I still get some boost creep.

I had the same problem and I put a reducer plate between the midpipe and the Apex GT Exhaust and this solved my boost creep problem. I did this instead of porting the watsegate, its easier and problem solved. I tried 3 different sizes and one of them worked.
