Power FC Has anyone sent thier PFC to XS????
Has anyone sent thier PFC to XS????
I'm fixing to send mine as soon as Fed EX get back on thier feet from the airline delays. Has anyone else sent one to them? How did it turn out? Well I guess people that went there would be ok too....I just want to here some experiences about the XS pretuned maps it doesnt really matter if you mailed it or when there.
Thanks for the help,
Thanks for the help,
Well from the looks of it I'll be one of the first here to send the Power FC.
Well if anyone is interested here is my mods that I'll be tuning for:
Intake
DP
MP
Cat back
SMIC
Pulleys
12.5psi 1st boost setting for daily
14 psi for the 2nd boost setting for race
lower the temp that the radiator fans kick on
Damn, to bad Apexi doesnt have local, I'm paying for overnight shipping both ways plus $150.......I hope there will be a big difference for $200. Anyone with these mods interested in chipping in a few bucks for the map
I dont guess it matters, I'll post it regaurdless.....lucky basterds hehe

SPO, let us all know how the maps run, I'm sure they'll be good. But I don't think you'll be able to share them, because XS uses the power Xcel software to tune the FC's. The software modifies the base maps and will not show up in the commander, so no-one will be able to see the differences in the maps. Did you specify at what temp to turn your fans on?

I didnt know the maps cant be shared. I thought I'd just be able to look at it just like i can the regular base map and tell people what it says. The are basically just replacing my base map with a new base map.
Let me know.
Later,
SPO, I don't think there is any way to alter the base maps, except for the power Xcel software. Unless Baddog and whoever esle is working on there reverse-engineering project come up with a new solution, I think you can't share your maps. Thanks for the offer though. Let us know how it runs when you have it installed.

Does anybody even know what paramets the excel sofware covers? and even if they have anythign to do with basic fuel and timing maps?? as so far nobody I have talk to does. So the question si sput to the excel dealers, if anyone get's there car done asked which parameters were adjusted? and if YOU cna access them all. remember by us posting maps on this forumn we are undermining the excel shops, so, I don't think if they knew it was going to the forum be very helpful, I wouldn't.

XS has the Power XL software. Troy with XS told me this would be my new base map. They can change the fan temps and some other stuff. One of the XS employees was on the forum and mentioned about even being able to change the transition point where the 2nd turbo kicks in.
I just sent if today via am delivery Fed Ex so I'll be talking to the programmer/tuner that is working on it and I'll find out all the details for you guys.

Not sure what you mean since my maps were put in by Ray and I sent my maps to Jason. What are the cells I sent to Jason? Just some cell numbers that then fine tune the base maps? I do have the lower transition, since my 2nd turbo comes on smoothly at 4000 and not 4500, so there isn't a huge jump in power like before at 4500.

Please let us know how XS reprogramming turn out! I have also recently been in contact with them to reprogram my PFC. I can confirm that they do use excel to tune the software . Besides maybe changing the fan temps , what else would you want to change in the base programming?
thanks
Kelvin

To be quite honest they seemed a little reluctant to tell me what all the software is capable of. It might be because they know people are trying to hack it and they dont want to release to much info, I dont really know.
I do know they adjusted my fans and said they have dyno tuned maps from real cars with mods and boost like mine. These are the maps they load but they dont really tell you EVERYTHING that is done to the map, just that its a map designed for your mods.
I should have it back Thurs morning and I'll give a report over the weekend as I'll prob be heading for the track to try it out

Oh he got it back ... and he pulled one great run @ 14 psi and everything popped off on him and now he is spending every moment trying to find his boost leaks!! LOL -- non-sequential always seems real nice right about now . . .
The Commander manual describes the Basic Injection Map on page 21. This map cannot be changed with the Commander, but rather only with the PowerXL software that XS has.
The Basic Injection Map is intended to define the amount of fuel that should be delivered at each cell to give stoich air:fuel ratio of 14.57:1. The Fuel Correction Map that you can change with the Commander allows you to adjust the amount of fuel that is delivered for each cell relative to the Basic Injection Map. And if you have a lot of mods, it is easy to have cells that are maxed out at 149.
You can also change the amount of fuel that is delivered with the Basic Fuel Injection Correction settings, which allow you to adjust the fuel delivered at 1000, 2000, .. 8000 RPMs.
The Pressure Sensor Voltage Selection setting can also be used to adjust the mixture. This allows you to input a correction percentage to be applied at a bunch of different MAP sensor voltages.
I imagine you could also play with the injector settings to richen the mixture. But the ideal way to do it is just to get a new Basic Injection Map from XS and then use the Fuel Correction Map for fine tuning without having to butt up against the 149 maximum value.
I had XS reprogram my PowerFC today. I am switching to single turbo, so it will be a few days before I get the car back on the road. I hope the map from XS will make the car run well enough to get the boost and whatever initial glitches I run into sorted out before I take the car to XS for dyno tuning.

Jason from the RX7Store got his PFC tuned from XS for a single turbo setup and said it ran great!!!!!
I will say this......for the brief moment that I ran the car with the new map at high boost it ripped my head off!!!! Damn, it felt good then.........no boost, a hose poped off
I'll be able to give a good report in a few days....I HOPE!!!!

I think I am going to advance the timing slowly, 1 degree at a time, in the cells I am in at WOT, watching the knock number to see if it creeps up. As far as timing through out the maps, I could probably advance it 1 degree as well since like before I don't have hardly any knock values to speak of, 10 to 15 cruising, 15 to 23-25 at WOT. As far as throttle response, car takes off like a bat outta hell, so I doubt I could tell much difference in the 1 degree advance.

Stephen,
When are you going to Steele again to do some 1/4 times? Last time some friends of mine went, they said people were going down the track in the back of trucks holding flags (before the WTC attack). Nothing like seeing the rebel flag in the back of trucks

Tim: I've been talking to Steve about going to Steele with everyone too. I suggested to Steve that Oct 14 weekend would be good for me. Are you game? Oh yeah we had a thread on this ... I think in the SE forum?

Oh yea, I forgot to tell you I prob wont be able to go on the 14th weekend. I just found out that my great grandmothers birthday (95yrs old!!!!) is that weekend and they are having a real big party for her.....its in Ms.
I dont think there will be time to do it before then but the next weekend of the 19th (Fri) will probably be good. The more people the better. I think Friday(19st) or Sun(21rd) would be the best days. Everynow and then they wont let street cars run on Sat because off all the dragsters.....there just isnt time for the street cars.
Tim - Yea, everyone and then you get some funny stuff going on out there. For a while they were holding bikini and burnout contest at midnight.
I'll go start a thread on the SE forum for it!!!!! The only bad thing about the 19-21 is I've got one rx7 buddy that wants to be there real bad but he's getting married that weekend.

Whatever weekend or friday we settle on, I'll make every attempt to make it. last time I went to the drag strip was about 2 years ago in Macon with about 5 or 6 other RX-7's. Launching at the track and on the street are 2 totally different things. With my old 245/45's SO-2's lauching on the street meant dropping the clutch at 3K with little or no spin, then it would hook and go. I was disappointed in my track times, but not my trap speeds back then since the car wasn't modded out like it is now. I think my best time was 13.6 but a trap speed on 109. 60 ft times were in the 2.5 to 2.7 range due to wheel hop, something I wasn't used to on the street. Never could figure out where to launch it at the track in the 5 or 6 runs I got in that night. I just pluncked down the cash on the M2 trailing arms and toe link set, so I'll see if that helps along with the extra mods I have now
See you guys then,
