Grounding question..

Ok, so I just installed my PFC the other day and was wondering about the two wires attached to the stock ECU mounting bracket. I skipped re-using the stock mounts for the new ECU because one of the mounting points would block the plug in for the commander and Datalogit regardless of which direction I turned the PFC. I relocated the two wires to the frame of the car just above the PFC but am now thinking that they may have been mounted to the bracket for a reason..

Does the PFC need a ground? should I figure out a way to re-connect these wires to the ECU (aka, duct tape)? or will it be fine with them where they are currently?

Thanks,
Levi

1. Use the stock ecu mounts. You have to cut a little chunk off the top mount to allow the Commander cable to clear.

2. Velcro PFC to stock mounts.

3. Reground the wires as they were initially.

haha that is exactly what i did (plus a cable tie to hold the brackets on a bit stiffer than the velcro).

the issue being velcro isnt a conducter. Obviously when they designed the PFC they would have considered if they needed to ground the PFC or not, and with the omission of any fastening points/terminals on the exterior of the PFC (plus the fact they recommend fitting via non-conducting velcro), they have accepted that the PFC itself doesnt have the same ground potential as wherever the ground wire goes to, hence no grounding needed

They just need to be attached to a ground near the ECU. I think I just re-attached them to the top ECU bracket, works just fine.

So, with the stock mounting bracket completely out of the picture would this be ok just being attached to the screw on the body 1-2 inches above the PFC (the screw that the top of the upper mounting bracket attached to originally)?? that's where I stuck it when I was in the shop (was running out of time before they closed up and kicked me out) and I haven't seen any problems at all, so far.. my main question is whether or not this would be detrimental in the future... I can use my Sawzal to cut away at the bracket so the Commander plug in would still fit. But I still have to question the grounding efficiency of the bracket to the PFC through the industrial velcro I used/will use..
