Gauging product interest - PowerFC mounting bracket?

Hey guys -

A good buddy of mine here with an import performance shop has been fabbing a lot of new products lately, and we've been kicking around the idea of making a nice bracket for the PowerFC.

I would love to have a good bracket that bolts in just like the stock ECU, has the 10mm stud to attach the ECU's ground wire to, etc. Basically the PFC would attach to the bracket with double-sided tape or the like, then would bolt in just like the stock ECU for a super clean install.

Price would definitely be reasonable - we'd like to do around $30 shipped. Big thing I want to know is if there would be interest enough in something liike this for me to start working up a prototype, or if everyone just has a better mounting idea for the PFC than I do . Part of this stems from my desire for the car to be as OEM as possible in quality, and a goofy rigged bracket doesn't cut it.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Dale

I think its a good idea. For 30 bucks, its worth it. If you factor in gas, materials and time, its CHEAPER to just get a bracket from you!! Plus, lots of people have power FC's, or would get them, so good market...

Would be cool if you could find some nice universal way to present it the way I've seen the F-Con mounted in a 1-din CF surrond in some center consoles instead of hiding it away. Only problem with the PFC is its graphic is on the top side of the ecu instead of the side. Just a thought.

I must be confused.

My PFC fit perfectly in the stock location and is held in place with the velcro that came with the PFC. I did have to cut a notch out of the stock bracket to allow the Commander to plug in.

The fan recall box and the grounding are still as they were with the stock ecu, as well.

Perhaps a pic would help, Dale.

Hmm, well at least with my car the brackets were bolted to the sides of the stock ECU. I wonder if '94s are different or something?

Or maybe I'm just having a failure of imagination as to a better way to mount it.

Any pics of mounted PFCs? I fabbed a bracket up when I put mine in, but it turned out pretty lousy.

I think this may fall more under the "Dale is a dumbass" category . Are you taking the 2 stock brackets and sticking them to either side of the PFC? I think I'm starting to understand.

I'll have to play with it this weekend.

If you could post pics that would be way cool. I'm gonna mess with it tomorrow as well.

I'll see how it turns out and see if a bracket would still be a good idea in any way, shape, or form.

Thanks! Man I am a dumbass - I put a LOT of work into making a bracket that turned out crappy . I'm gonna go get some more Velcro today and take another stab at it.

I'll see if I can't document what I do so hopefully future dumbasses won't run into the same prob!

Since you are such a good guy we will let this one slide Dale

Just used the stock brackets, drilled and tapped the case to accept fastener of my choice.

I also cut openings for datalogit plug and apexi boost controller kit plug

Here is what I did., little blurry, but you get the idea.

Hey Dale, a little off topic, but have you done anything with the driverside door solenoid/motor lock mechanism?

It looks fairly simple to fit and just run off the existing wiring from the stock driverside switch wiring, and run power for the new driverside solenoid through the existing (now not used) switch wiring

Do you know where the “door lock timer unit” is
