Fix the Idle?
I'm having problems with my FD stalling during idle with the AC on and in gear (fine when in N). I heard that it's probably the switch on the clutch that's gone bad, but I was just curious if the PFC would fix this without messing with any switches.
Thanks

Hey Tailhappy,
You know, the clutch switch costs $15 from Mazda and will literally take you less than 10 minutes to install. The PFC is actually harder to install than the clutch switch (not by much though), and it costs about 67X more than a new clutch switch.
Of course, if you are just trying to make some excuse for buying a PFC, then don't let me stop you. That type of rationale has led to some of my mods as well
But seriously, the clutch switch is way too cheap and easy to ignore. Even if you do get the PFC, change the clutch switch if it is bad.

Thanks Red. Yeah, I'm just lazy by nature and I figured if the PFC (or AEM) would fix the problem I wouldn't bother with the switch. Had no idea it was so cheap though. Seems like every part for an FD costs at least $100.....
Is the switch fairly easy to replace? I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, but I really haven't searched yet either. Is it on the pedal or outside the car?
Thanks

TailHappy,
Yeah, it is REALLY easy to replace. It is located on top of the clutch pedal...just stick your head under the dash and you'll see it. There is just one (14mm I think) nut holding it in place...remove that nut, disconnect the electrical connector, and it's out. Install is just as easy. It will take less than ten minutes from strat to finish.
