Power FC First Dyno Trip - Bad Breakup
First Dyno Trip - Bad Breakup
Alright so as is popular with fd's apparently i discovered today on the dyno that my ignition is having problems. Was hoping someone here could narrow it down (im basically looking to rule out the ignitor at least)
Basically at lower boosts (9-11ish psi) the curve of the graph would get a little choppy at higher load.
Once at 15psi at 6,000rpm the curve would get choppy then at 6k it would start missing bad and we'd have to abort the run.
The plugs are all 9's only 2 days old. Wires were replaced before i put the new motor in.
I'm guessing the harness is shot for the coils (one of the few things i didnt replace)
Are there FSM stats for the coils? Haven't bothered to check yet.
But on the other side after getting all the fuel out of the map that i had dumped in to be safe we squeezed 350whp on a dyno dynamics @ 15psi with the ignition issue and cutting it off at 6k rpm so I know the power is there. For now I'm sitting on 11psi with a slightly choppy high rpm.
Kevin.

You might start looking at a Ignition amp, I used to have similar problems on stock turbo's until I installed a MSD 6A With a T2 leading coil.
For the leading coil you should have below 1 ohm between the connector that the harness hooks too, and 9.6 - 16 ohms between the L1 and L2 coil output.
Good luck,
Kevin

I just went through this whole frustrating ignition breakup mess. Cheapest thing to try is MSD 6A and T2 leading coil. I am running 18psi on B10EIX plugs and that wasn't cutting it. I switched to HKS twin power and it fixed it, but that is at least twice as much as one MSD 6A.
