Hey list,
My laptop does not have serial port but USB and firewire. Is there a verison of FC Datalogit where it has USB or firewire connection instead of serial port?
Thanks

My mechanic got a usb adapter at a local store and it will not work, Jeff 48 came to get his torque brace installed and told him to call Ari at RP . The adapter Ari sent did work . Thanks to Jeff ,big time
I was having a problem getting my IOGear serial>USB adapter cable to work. And yes, even though I had it set on the right COM port. What I FINALLY discovered (at least on my car) is that you have to have the serial end of the cable plugged in to the Datalogit box, but NOT in to the computer yet. Then start the laptop and open the Datalogit software, making sure it's set on the correct COM port, turn on the ignition key enough to give power to your commander (and PFC ofcourse) and LASTLY insert the USB plug in to the laptop. If I restart the computer without first removing the USB plug, when it comes back on line it gives me an error and won't connect.
So.... it's critical to insert the USB plug in to the laptop last.

ps- that guy Glen at Datalogit isn't worth a damn. I emailed him several times and never got a response, NOTHING on helping me with the USB problem, not even a username and passord for the Datalogit forum. It took me 3 days with a total of 6 hours of trying different brands of adapters and drivers before finally figuring it out on my own.
