Power FC % duty cycle on PFC boost control

% duty cycle on PFC boost control

I need help with some basics on the PFC. I want to run more boost and the manual says to increase the base duty cycle if you increase boost. Does the base duty cycle control switch over for the sequentials? Or is it for something else????

If I want to run 1 bar what shoudl my duty cycle percentages be??? No matter what I set in the PFC I cant seem to get any more than .80 bar...If I set it to 1 bar the boost pulses from 12.5-14.7 PSI...

Just keep raising the duty cycle and testing it until it gets close to where you want the boost set at. Every car is a little different so its hard to say what a good place to start is. If it starts to overboost you have gone to far.

Hmmm we need a FAQ for the PFC. Someone started one but I haven't heard of it since. I wrote something up on this that was captured in Steve's "lightning in a world of thunder" site. You can search there. I don't have the link handy.

but in a nutshell - the boost is "target boost" this is what the PCF tried to hit. The "base duty" is the duty cycle the unit starts with, that actually determines what boost you will see.

if you change just the target, you should see the boost levels change - eventually, not right away..

if you change just the base duty, you should see pretty immediate changes, but the unit will not stay there as it tries to get back to the target boost requested.

Sometimes when there are problems in your turbo system, the PFC will not be able to get above 10 or 12 lbs.

The base duty does not control switchover points.

at a bar on stock injectors, it'll be 100% duty cycle. the stock injectors are fully open at 90% - 100%, so there's no difference

Russel, you are talking about something different. The orriginal question was in regard to the duty cycle for the wastegate, not the fuel injectors.

Correctly tuning boost on the PFC involves setting both the target boost level as well as the base wastegate duty cycle.

So, if I want to turn the boost up, I need to turn up the wastegate soloenoid's base duty cycle to get the boost to come up? Currently they're at the 64% to the 70% level. So how much do I turn up the duty cycle? Will the Power FC unit learn eventually? The PFC is tuned to 1 Bar, and I wanted to set the high boost to 1 Bar. Do I turn the wastegate duty cycle to 100%?
