exhaust temp warning light

I just reread my PFC instruction manual and in the beginning it says that if there is a sensor malfunction then the exhaust temp warning light will illuminate with the key in the on position. I went to the check sensor screen, but none of the sensors is illuminated. The light is not on after I start the car. Does it illuminate with the key on (like the rest of the warning lights) before you start to let you know the light is working?

I have the same problem. It was like that when I bought the car so didn't know if that was normal or not. I will have to check my sensors to see if any thing is out of wack. Thanks for point this out. Does any body else have the same issues?

Ok I just ran down and checked my sensors and their voltages on the PFC. Under the sensor check function, with the key in the ON position, I see black dots by CAT, HWL, PAC, and CCN. My voltages are Battery = 11.8v, PIM = 2.63v, VTA1 = .56v, VTA2 = 1.41v, VMOP = 1.21v, WTRT = 1.45v, AIRT = 2.25v, FUEL = 3.78v, O2S = .09v

When the car is on and running the exhaust temp light is out. The sensor check shows FDP, APR, and CCN. My voltages are Battery = 14.1v, PIM = 1.65-1.69v, VTA1 = .56v, VTA2 = 1.39v, VMOP = 1.21v, WTRT = 1.76v, AIRT = 2.27v, FUEL = 3.78v, and O2S = .07v.

Now these were with a cold start and nothing was warmed up. Will I see different voltages on some sensors (like O2) when the car is warm?
Any way what do those acronyms mean by those black dots and do the voltages look ok to you guys. All the help you can give is greatly appreciated. I need it all.

WeakLink: does your check engine light come on for two seconds when the key is in the on position? And what do some of your voltages read on your sensors?

Mine does not, does that mean I have greater problems going on. Or is that normal? The PFC manual says it should.

Sorry about hijacking your post, we may be able to work together on this one. Any feed back from you guys is very helpful.

Well, I read the manual to mean that if the light comes on at all in the on position, then there is a sensor fault. However, it also makes sense to me that when the key is on, before the motor is started, that all of the warning lights light up to let the driver know that the bulbs are indeed functional. I don't know about specific voltages, but I do know that the manual says that if there are any sensors out of spec, that the sensor reading will illuminate (none do). You can check spec for voltages by going here: http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/index.htm

and looking in the online service manual...please observe a brief moment of silence for P. Lee, operator of the site and apparently forced to consider selling his 7. Obviously Mr. Lee is a true rx7 fan and I and probably many others have benefited greatly from his *free* website, obviously a labor of love.

All of the acronyms are described on page 35 of the commander manual.

I do not have the commander manual. I only have been able to find the Power FC manual (15 pages). Where might I find the commander manual?

hmm...it's right in the PFC instructions+maps forum....

The CEL does NOT light up normally when the car is turned on. I think you're fine and from what I can remember off the top of my head, your sensor voltages all look within spec. Check the service manual to make sure.

Ok, heres another question. I now think my check engine light does not work. I do not see it on when I turn the key to the on position and I have never seen it flash or blink (although if I see it flash or blink it indcates a problem). Should I see it when I turn the key to the on postion for 2 seconds? Do you guys?

You guys are talking about two different lights here: check-engine light vs. exhaust temp warning light. The Power FC does not light up the CEL with the key in the on position. This creates problems for Cali guys by sometimes causing them to fail inspections.
