Emission Test Results

Did an emission test yesterday. Knew I wouldn't pass, as my turbos are shot and leak oil and I'm sure my stock cat is history. BUT, I was a lot closer than I thought. I have no emissions equipment other than the stock main cat and the evaporative system. My PFC uses the base maps for version 5.08 and I have 850 cc primaries that I reset the PFC for. My results:

@40kph HC (ppm) Limit=83, Me=161; CO% Limit=0.46, Me=0.51; NO (ppm) Limit=630, Me=185

@Idle HC (ppm) Limit=200, Me=1963; CO% Limit=1, Me=9.36

You can see at 40kph I likely only need a new high flow cat and I will pass, even though it is obvious I am running way rich because of the low NO level. The level at idle is brutal, but you all have experienced how rich your PFC was set at idle. Mine burns my eyes even with the garage door open. A new cat and some tuning should see this come way down. And a new turbo, of course. I have nearly 2 months to do this, it should be easy.

My turbos were damaged when the car was stolen. My insurance company has still not given me any money to repair / replace them, but they are supposed to finish this today. Unfortunately, my car will not be back on the road before the spring, so I have no results. Will try this in the spring or maybe before if we get some good weather. New turbo will be an experiment, so it may take a while for fitment.

is it just me or does the CEL not come on with the PFC. we should automaticaly fail every time cause of this. maybe i should just shut my mouth. ill need to pass sooner or later too. keep us informed tyson. i would love to see how things go. funny readings at idle. i wonder what the mechanic there was thinking. good luck, fingers are crossed for you.

Uhhh, they were a bunch of young guys. They did a visual inspection, but they don't know what to look for. Remember, I have no air pump even. I don't know if the care about the check engine light here.
It was kind of funny, 'cause one of them backed it onto the rollers and it was puffing black smoke as he backed it into the shop. Their rubber exhaust hose was smoking all along the length for half the test.
I'll be back in the spring with an *** whompin' single turbo and a bucket of methanol to see if I can make it pass. The PFC may not survive the winter though, depends on the finances and when the Haltech E11 is actually released.
