In the US it's called a dongle too, Chuck must not be familiar with programs that require a hardware key.

I have been in mainframe I.T. for over 30years and have used PCs for over 10, plus 7 years in microwave communications and ground nav-aids.

Never heard that term before today. The web definition does not seem to really match the cable or the datalogit.

Are you looking for drivers for a USB to serial converter? What brand?

I know you're a smart guy Chuck, I wasn't attacking you for not knowing. But if you have ever used popular CAD/CAM software like solidworks or featurecam, you will know that they require a hardware key called a dongle to be plugged into the parallel port to provide security information that enables the program. The same is true for the Datalogit software, it requires the datalogit cable/box to enable its functionality, so I'm told by fasthatch.

The cable is not required to run the software, there's no hardware key therefore no dongle. All the cable does is power the box and allow it to communicate with the PC.

I've used a few software programs for pressure vessel and stress analysis software which required a dongle. No dongle plugged in and the software will not execute and will not save files, only the GUI will work.

I'm not going to bother debating this, it's a waste of time. I'm sorry I tried to clarify what he meant up above.

Thank to you all for educating me about something even though it has nothing to do with the PFC and DATALOGIT and FD_Edit software!
