^have you tried hooking everything up, turning the key on, then powering the PC up??
But, should it not still read on the commander, with it hooked to the datalogit, even if the datalogit and PC don't communicate?? if so then I would say something is wrong with the datalogit, or wrong version.

All the above is good info. The commander does not work when running the datalogit. But sounds like you are not even getting to that point. Also I myself have had problems trying to run my datalogit with a serial to USB cable, no workie! I think there is a "special cable" you can buy for this. However it should work with the serial cable that comes with it. Try as mentioned above and using the serial cable hooked up power up the pc, then turn ignition on and try to read all. If that does not work I dunno! Bad pc port? BAd datalogic.

bring your desktop into your car with an extension.... run windows XP... reduce all the buffer to the lowest.. make sure datalogit port is setup at the correct port you plug in...
check if the connector from the datalogit to the PFC is correct... means it doesn't have any missing pin... it's well known to have damaged pin due to the socket does not have a key to guide the correct insertion.

thats not paint....
I just got mine to work.
I went out and bought a USB to Serial Cable. The cable came with a driver CD, as soon as I plugged the cable in (w/o the ECU on), XP recognized it as new hardware. Fed it the CD, it found the drivers, Installed fine. I turned on the car and opened FC-Edit.... I get something like "Error opening COM port". I checked in windows device manager and saw the COM to USB device was on COM 5. Changed that in the FC-Edit settings, worked like a champ.
