Commander Sensor Checks

Since I installed my PFC + Commander...I spent about 2 weeks using post by Arghx and Chuck's notes to get my idle set...absolutely perfect. During that time, I've never had any issues with sensors displaying as "on" with the exception of normal: Clutch, AC, etc. as used.

The one exception being Charge Control showing as switched on which I understand (perhaps incorrectly?) is a result of my non-sequential setup.

Yesterday and today while driving around, I noticed my FPD (Fuel Pump Operation) is showing as "on" and randomly my HWL (Exhaust Temp Warning Indicator) was on.

After discovering the wiring mess that was the car since I've purchased it...when driving I've babied it (kept out of boost...new engine only has 3k miles on it). Basically I add on reliability mod a week and until I've finished doing so I'm not going crazy with the car.

One of the items that was supposedly rewired was the Fuel Pump which I will pull this week.

So I guess my primary question is, apart from using the FSM to test, anything in particular I should know about the 2 warnings listed? FPD and HWL? I've yet to see my injector duty go above 35% which should be an indicator of how much I've babied the car so far.

you are way more patient than I would be for a break in. 3k miles worth of gas is a lot of money to spend before you can enjoy the car.

I haven't looked extensively into the HWL (exhaust temp) warning in the context of the PFC but suffice it to say that you can completely ignore it.

I haven't really studied logs of the FPD indicator very much either. It may refer to the signal from the ECU for the two-speed fuel pump system (fuel pump resistor). This system is often bypassed during a fuel pump rewire, but I would think that bypassing it would have no effect on when the indicator comes on.

The Charge control (CCN) is on until the sequential transition point, just like on a factory ECU. With sequential turbo control turned off it may just stay on. You can ignore it.

Hi Arghx,

I do have a fuel pump rewire as mentioned but I *swear* the switch didn't show as on until I played with the FCD settings working on the idle per your excellent instructions (car is running top notch).

In regards to patience...10 years ago...I would have blown the motor by now. Making it into my mid 30's has taught me a little patience. I purchased the care about 6 weeks ago and each week I try to add something.

Basically I still have an EBC to add + intercooler + radiator to go with all of my purchases so far (PFC, Commander, Wideband, etc) before I'll feel safe enough to start pounding on it. =)
