Check Engine Codes

Do you still get check engine codes with a Power FC? If not then what can you use for diagnostics, the commander?

Well, the Commander manual says:

"Use this mode [Sensor/SW Check] to check for malfunctions when the Engine Check lamp is ON. The malfunctioning sensor will illuminate."

I've never seen the check engine light on in the 1.5 years I've had the power fc. I've never really thought about it before, but I would guess that the stock ecu errors like "Oxygen Sensor less than .55v for more
than 120 sec in feedback mode" are lost when going to the pfc.

If your question is: "Does the pfc give you a number of long and short flashes that correspond to an error code" then no, it does not.

From what I understand, the PFC uses the "Overheat Exhaust" warning light on the center console to show you there is a problem. When you turn the key to on, if the exh. light is steady on that means you have a problem with one of your sensors.

You then are supposed to go to the check sensor screen on the commander and figure out which sensor is mafunctioning.

The problem I have with this is that I don't know what the normal parameters are for all the sensors and switches listed in that screen.

OK. So there is some diagnostic feature with the PFC, its just a little more complicated to read and understand.

Do you own the power fc or are you just trying to get a feel for the way it works? You should download the pdf version of the commander manual from this forum and read through it. The diagnostic stuff is toward the back.

not more complicated, just not as in depth as the stock one now. How hard it is to see the overheat lamp on, go to sensor screen and see what sensor is highlighted? Easier than seeing the check engine light flashing, then jumping off the sensor, writing down short, long, short, etc and then looking up what it corresponds to.
