CEL myth or fact...?

The PFC manual says the Check Engine Light will flash if the Injectors are maxed, MAp sensor over 4v or knock sensor over 60. When I turn on my key there is no CEL light any longer. I started my car and lowered the injector warning level down to 10% to see if I could get a CEL and still it didn't flash. My exh overheat light has been removed.

So the question is ( after long searches ) is the manual bullshit or fact ? Does the Rx7 CEL do anything now ?

I'm curious about this also. Both my CEL and Exhaust Over Heat light comes on when I turn the key but then they go off as soon as the car starts. I've lowered all my setting thresholds and I still do not get the lights to light up.

I just figured my car was too hacked up and I would have to track that down sooner or later.

The datalogit manual clearly states the CEL and overheat lights work to tell you of problems. But I have no lights.

All those lights such as the CEL light come on and stay on when the key is in the ignition on position, then after you start the car the lights turn out, that is how all cars are, at least all the cars I have, my mx6 does that also, its normal. I have stock ecu. I have been checking my cel codes very often recently because I just fixed a problem after I had a cel code, so now my car doesn't have any cel codes stored in memory, and the cel light stays on until you start the car. I am pretty sure the exhaust over heat light also is on until you start the car, and the other lights such as the ebrake light, etc.

Edit: the "4W ABS", "check" CEL, parking brake, battery, & the overheat exh. light all stay on until you start the car.

My point was, I'm pretty sure that my CEL and Exhaust Over Heat lights are working correctly. It's just when I adjust the injector and knock warning boxes under the settings one tab with the datalogit, nothing happens.

But after I said that earlier I've noticed my CEL doesn't light up ever. I think the light has been manually turned off.

PFC don't lit up CEL at all. I think you are talking about the stock ECU.

I am convinced that function of the PFC doesn't work. At least it doesn't in my car, and I know the bulbs work, due to starting the car. The way I proved it to myself was to use the datalogit to set the thresholds for the warnings way down to where they should ALWAYS be warning me (such as knock = 10). No lights...

this is exactly like my car too. With the lack of tech support, the way the manual is written up and what you get for the price...I am beginning to have second thoughts about the PFC and the datalogit..

my lights never come on either, after i wired up the cel light to the exhaust overheat circuit (now they both come on) i tried all sorts of settings to get the lights to come on from knock and duty cycle, no bacon.... I'm hoping that adjusting the settings dosen't work but the default settings do work. Wishfull thinking? Who knows...

So if the HWL is flashing, logic would state that it is trying to warn you. Has anyone ever taken a test light to the unused pins to see if maybe one of them is the output for this warning?

Has anyone had a chance to do this yet? Or does anyone know where I can find the J-Spec Shop Manual so I can see what the Pin (the ones we remove / cut) on J-Spec 7s are for.
