Power FC can you hook up both a commander and datalogit?
can you hook up both a commander and datalogit?
Hey, i searched but didnt really see an answer to this question, IIRC the commander hooks to the PFC with what i would say (and its been awhile since i looked at it) resembles a s-video connection. what i was wondering was if it would be possible to fabricate or buy a splitter that would allow one to use both the datalogit and commander, so i could switch back and forth without having to always pull the kick panel on and off to go back and forth. i love the abilities you have with datalogit and the monitering you can do with the commander, and i know its possible to moniter everything with the datalogit aswell, but my girlfriend doesnt really like having mylaptop in her lap all the time haha. any info, or ideas would be awesome
Well i have both the commander and the datalogit hooked up
the datalogit connects to the pfc and the commander hooks up to the datalogit
the commander duzn work to well then the pc is connected to the datalogit but works fine when there is no laptop connected

alright, that was my main concern is the delay i kept reading about when i searched, but what your saying is the pc works fine and up to speed when connected to the datalogit and the commander works fine and up to speed when the pc isnt connected? i thought i read that the logging on the pc is slower if you have both connected, and i just wanted to clarify that

yes there is a longer beaks between samples... the throughput is having to divide itself among two devices...although the commander basically stops reading when you start logging. Now is it enough for one to worry...I doubt it. You can test it yourself... When you log the sample rate/time interval is displayed. Try it with the commander in and with it out. Also the computer itself has affect on this also (up to a point).
