Can I just plug the power FC without tuning it???. Please educate me.

Greetings,

I have ordered the power FC and I am just wondering how to use the base maps that come with the unit.

Do I just plug the PFC and its done or do I need to
tune it before??

Also, Does the base maps are good for my mods.

-dowpipe
-High flow cat
-Apex GT cat back
-Apexi power intake
-Efini y pipe.

How much boost the base maps do???

I just want to make sure I don't run lean. I am worry
about detobation.

Sorry for my ignorance. Please educate me.

( have red the manual)

Thanks
Serge

I am running similar mods, intake, downpipe, hi flow cat, cat back and SMIC.

I run the maps that came with the unit, seem to be known as BaseMod, and it seems fine.

Boost will be 0.8 kg / cm2 (approx. 12psi)

I have the commander and a datalogit, however without a wideband (yet) and access to a dyno, I am happy to run the fairly rich stock map.

I modified the fan temps down a bit with datalogit, but that is all so far.

My priority is engine life rather than ultimate power, and it seems fine so far.

I too just asked the same question because I've always been told on here that it will be tuned a little rich going with those mods....but everyone around here that I builds rotaries and works on them says there is not a chance that the base maps will provide enough fuel....so I'm going to be adding fuel to my map(been told to use Houston #2 map)...so thats what I'm going to do until I get my 1300cc injectors and fuel pump in. I'm not sure who you bought it from...but if you bought it from the rx7 store...you'll have to cut 4 wires before your able to put it in...no biggie though. Hope this helps out...I'm in the same boat as you as I'm getting mine in friday. Hopefully I can get everything tuned with a little help from spyfish and kruf. Best of luck.

With basically your mods I popped my car on the dyno and it was VERY rich...mid 9's to mid 10's all the way from 3k to redline. Leaned it out to low 11's, cranked the boost up to 13.5psi and went from 254rwhp to 285rwhp. Swapped out hi-flow cat for MP and added HKS TwinPower, still plenty rich low 11's:1, dropped down 306.1rwhp. My dyno graphs from the two dyno days (3 days apart) with wideband a/f ratios are available with explaination in this thread:

Hope this makes you feel more comfortable that the basemap will be dumping MORE than enough fuel for you. BTW: if you plan on running boost >12psi consistantly I recommend you drop in an upgraded fuel pump to keep that fuel pressure up.
