Bouncing idle on new motor....?

I finally got the car running with a new ported motor and single WITHOUT ANY LEAKS...!! FINALLY...!!! Sorry just had to get it out of my system. Anyway I finally ran the car for about 10 minutes non stop. But after about 5 minutes the idle dropped to a nice smooth idle for about a minute but then the idle started jumping between 750rpm and about 1500rpm. Not sure whats going on. Is the PFC in a learning mode or something? Help would be great guys...Thanks...Tony

Ok before Chuck flames me for not using the search function. I just did and I'll try adjusting the air bleed screws. But one question how do you turn off the O2 feedback function?

Even with a working air pump, the ecu does not control idle well with the O2 feedback option on with a modded engine. Without an air pump, the O2 control does not work at all.

I have a working air pump but with the O2 control off and I pass emissions test in Texas.

Turn it off.

Well I adjusted the set screw and the bleeder screw on the throttle body and that help out alot I got a nice steady idle at about 800 rpms. But now when I shut the car for a few minutes and try to start it. It doesn't wanna start. I have to adjust the set screw(turning clock wise to increase idle rpm) so that the car can start. The car won't start unless I adjust that screw. But after I adjust it the idle goes back up to about 1150 rpms, even with the bleeder screw screwed all the way in. I've been adjusting the screw in the front of the throttle body thats horizontal. But I did notice that the screw next to it thats vertical isn't making contact with the throttle arm. I looked in the shop manual and it doesn't mention anything about that screw. Maybe I need to adjust the PFC idle settings? Any help would be great guys....jump in anytime Chuck... :-) thanks...

This new verticle screw, is it above and to the right of the air bleed screw?

If so that is the hot wax rod cold start adjusting screw. Yes it is in the manual.
Use that to adjust cold start rpms. After the engine warms up, it disengages. Screw it out to increase cold start RPMs.

Thanks Chuck, the screw I'm actually talking about is the one in front of the throttle bodyright behind the alternater (has a small 8mm locking nut). But its really strange the car doesn't wanna restart if I shut it off for a few minutes unless I adjust the horizontal set screw. Its the allen wrench screw in front of the throttle body on the very top (Alternator side). I've got a ported motor so I'm wondering if my idle needs to be higher to support the port. Or maybe I need to adjust the PFC. I also did notice is the when the car is fully warm I'll take it for a drive and it runs pretty good but on a couple of occasions at a stop sign the rpms would drop very low. The car actually died out one time and didn't wanna restart. So I had to get out and adjust the top allen wrench screw on the front of the throttle body so the car would start. I'm gonna try to start the cold motor and see what happens. What ya think Chuck...? Or better yet it would be great if I could give ya ring? Thanks...Tony
