Power FC Basic PFC questions.
Basic PFC questions.
I may be getting a PFC soon so I have some questions about it.
Do I have to send it to get reprogramed everytime I get a new mod, or can I upload new maps to it?
How dificult is the install?
How difficult is it to learn how to use?
What does the commader do?
Thanks for any help.

No, according to better informed ppl than myself, the base maps are good from stock to mild mods. i.e. intake,dp & cat back. If further changes need be made no map uploading, more like number crunching manually.
"How dificult is the install? "
Its NOT other than cutting the 4 wires its rather easy.
"How difficult is it to learn how to use? "
Using it isnt too bad. Not as difficult as it is to figure out what all the different readings mean.
The commander is used to make changes to the base or any other map.

fuel map
Everyone says it's fine to run the base map. I don't think so. The base map in the Power FC is still the Japanese base map. My friend got one straight from Japan and I compared the maps. Same thing. The fuel map is fine because a/f ratio does not change with octane rating of the gas. But I recommend you to change the ignition maps. You need to retard the timing from 1 degree for low boost and 6 degrees for high boost. To verify the final setting, use the monitor and have your friend check the commander for you. Look at the igntion L and igntion T and see what kind of timing you are getting. For high boost, 15 degree is the max for leading. For low boost, about 20 degree for leading.
