Power FC ap engineering pfc
ap engineering pfc
here from the teamfc3s forum. lot more pfc stuff here, mostly fd though
i am getting ready to start the new engine and had a few questions. if you are only replying to tell me to search the threads or that my questioins are redundant, you obviously dont have anything to contribute so don't.
my car has hybrid turbo, mild streetport, 550 primaries 1200 secondaries, stock fpr, cosmo pump, full exhaust, stock i/c, stock 7's and 9's for startup, ap engineering power fc. plx wideband o2
#1) i have read that adding resistors increases the injector lag time. i got the lag specs from rc engineering. does anyone know exactly how long the resistor lag needs to be compensated for
#2) the stock s5 ecu has a "dechoke" function that cuts fuel when the throttle is held wide open during cranking. does the power fc do this to?
when starting for the first time and self learning idle do people disable thermowax or does it not matter.
my t-body is adjusted to factory specs but i don't know where to set the idle adjust screw on the bac valve. im thinking this shouldn't matter cause the pfc is supposed to compensate for diffrent amounts of airflow at idle(i hope so)?
#3) does anyone know if the ap pfc has electric fan relay trigger signal? the s5 ecu does not have this function apart from the efan turn on with a/c system.
#4) i wanted to have the idle "up"compensate for when i have my efan turned on. i have set up the fan so that the fan relay is switched to ground through the pfc, hooked up to the original terminal that told the s5 ecu to idle up when the a/c was turned on. has anyone tried this?
#5) Think it'll run? how good is the base map in the ap pfc? i don't have a laptop or datalogit, and don't have faith in the tuners round here. apart from entering the secondary injector info on the commander i wouldn't know where to begin if the car doesn't run right. will the car run smoothly and powerfully for engine break in at 8 psi or are the injectors, porting and timing most likely going to require a lot of map work?

one more question- i am going to use the fd map sensor and have read that the pfc reads lower then actual pressure. is this a problem with the ap pfc and how critical is it to the smooth running of the car for breakin and low boost, and is there a link to a fix for the problem? thanks
A little late in the game to be asking these questions perhaps? No confidence in ap?
1) experimentation is the only answer but ap should know?
2) power fc does this, is the voltage range of your TPS the same as fd?
doesn't matter
adjust idle air after car is fully warmed up, PFC will try to compensate but you gotta get the ISC within a range for good idle control, buy chuck's tuning notes for idle setup and tuning help
3) ask ap?
4) you should be able to test this by simulating a signal with the key on and looking at the etc function menu on the commander
5) see my opening statement, good luck

anyone know if the commander can change the e fan settings. no laptop or dl yet. also, the car dies if i don't give it a little gas before it idles. i don't use a dashpot and did not have this problem before the pfc. my t-body is adjusted per the fsm. It seems possibly related to the fuel cut function. commander only allows the setting of when the fuel cut begins, not where it turns off to recover for idle. help
