Air pump...........Do I still need it?

I thought that I remember reading somewhere that the PFC does not control the air pump. Is this true or am I just imagining things? If it is the case that the pump is now doing nothing what do I need to do to remove it?

The air pump works correctly with the PFC as it was designed to do.
The only reason to remove it is to save weight. Even with a MP, it still pumps air into the exhaust to help clean it out. It does not work above 3000rpm so does not rob power above that.

To remove it you'll need a pulley kit and a new belt to compensate for the decreased size. Greddy seems to be the popular choice for this from what I've been reading.

Get rid of that thing...dead weight...

to completely remove the air pump and all of its little bungs and tubes associated with it....yes you do have to have block off plates for those.

you can just remove the air pump unit by itself though.

i would probably recommend keeping it if youre going to run a cat though. the reason i sold mine to you is b/c i am putting on block off plates to pretty much eliminate all emissions and useless stoof in the engine bay and therefore wouldnt be able to run an air pump. and i figured why dirty up that nice new cat.....so im putting on a midpipe.
the bonez cat is pretty tough and i know of people who run it without an air pump....but i dont know how long it would really stay clean and functional. you might just end up with a resonated midpipe if it gets all coked up.....
