adding a fuel pressure monitor to datalogit?

I think it would be nice to be able to log fuel pressure on the datalogit. Also, given the high cost of standalone electronic fuel pressure gauges, using the datalogit might be more cost effective as well. Has anybody done this?

As far as I know there is no monitoring of the fuel pressure readable directly by the datalogit. Fuel Temp--yes, fuel pressure--no. As a matter of fact, I am not sure the FD has anything more than an on/off switch for the fuel pump operation switch and another on/off switch for the fuel pump control valve.

If you do add a fuel pressure gauge it must be of an electric type to monitor via datalogit. If the fuel pressure gauge is mechanical, you will not be able to feed the data to the datalogit without adding an additional electronic sensor to the output side of the gauge.

As long as you can get a 0-5 volt analogue output to the Datalogit you should be able to monitor the voltages. Once you get the conversion equations figured out you should be able to use the polynomial function of the datalogit to convert to psi. It will be easier if the conversions are linear but don't count on it.

Good luck

Any idea who sells a FP sensor with say 0-5v output on it?

I've written some custom software for the Datalogit and this is one of the things we want to display.

Also - does anyone know how the fuel (gas) tank level is measured? Any idea how to convert the signal to 0-5v so I can connect to the Datalogit for instance? The dashboard is gone and it'd be nice to know how much fuel is in the tank

Try calling Cyberdyne or Intellitronix (Nordskog) http://www.intellitronix.com/ and asking the output voltages of their pressure sensors. If they will tell you (my guess is they will not) and the Vouts are 0-5 , tell them that you intend to purchase one and need to know the conversion #'s from Vout to pressure numbers, so your datalogging software can use the output. If they give you all that, you should buy their sensor and gauges.

Thanks! I've sent them an e-mail to ask and I'll see if they reply!

Another thing I want to mention. If we could log fuel pressure with the data logit we could also use it to measure the fuel pressure gradient by subtracting the boost pressure from the fuel pressure readings.
