About the power fc ecu?
Hey i went on XS engineering site and they have the power fc alone with base maps, which is tune for intake, downpipe, catback, ecu. And the price is $899.00 which is considerable cheaper than others anyhow i would like to know Do i really need the commander for tuning and Is it plug and play or is the installation is more diffcult? What do u guys think is it worth getting it.

Your correct. Its a much better idea to buy the Power FC even without the commander. (You can buy it anytime) Much better than the chip. You'll love it. You can monitor your car with gauges. No need to spend $300 for the commander untill you get more mods.

If you live near any of Apex's Excel tuner shops(like XS Enginerring) you might as well not get the commander. The Commander only allows you to access about 1/2 the tuning parameters. The rest can only be accesed via the laptop software.
Might as well save the $300.00 for dyno tuning time. But if you are not close then you should get the commander. Remember that every Rx-7 is different.
Ecu tunes are just a guess of what your car is running. Basically they guess with the mods that you have how much fuel you should get.
I have seen Rx7s with almost the exact same setup end up having completely different programs after dyno tuning.
At least with the commander you can play with the base map that is given to you on the Power FC.
