.62 boost on PFC with car turned off.

Issue : Car wont start, blows a lot of black smoke. The car will turn over and almost start. Maybe get to about 500rpm and then die.
I noticed that the pfc was registering +.62 boost and sometimes +2.01 boost.. With the car on the on position, but not running...
Is it possible the car is running to rich to idle?

Any suggestions?

Do you have a 3 bar map sensor? If so, check the wiring for it. If it's been crimped, look into soldering it.

Ya. It was the first thing I checked. .I swapped it out with friends and still had the same problem.

Weird thing is, I checked the PFC when i got home from work today. The boost was back to normal, so I started it. . It threw out a lot of black smoke, but started easily. When it warmed, up i took it around the block and its not blowing any smoke.
Im still curious what could cause it, Im sure the problem will come back..

check what your load is reading. this will let you know ff your MAP sensor is bad.

I went through three GM 3 bars before i got one that was good. i just had bad luck. but if it can happen to me. it can happen to you...

Make sure the SCALE/OFFSET is correct for the sensor and that you have selected it as the one that is being used. DL Settings 3.

Also verify the TPS voltages are correct.

TPS voltages are a little off. I think that explains another small problem I am having. The car dies every once in a while. Sometimes at a dead stop, when taking off the car will die. I should have time Saturday morning to get the TPS in range.

Yeah, when I had my tps out of range it did exactly the same thing. Set it properly and re-learned the idle and it was perfect.

Here is a dumb question, did you check to see if your map sensor filter is clogged or maybe is missing? If its missing this could lead to a failed sensor.

Not a dumb question at all.. I think that's the problem. The problem came back yesterday, so I could try to figure it out. When the problem was gone it was hard to diagnose.
I tried a few things with the sensor. I switched it out with a friends and I tried unplugging the power. (thinking it could be a short in a wire). No change in the PFC by doing this. I then unplugged the line to the pressure sensor and the PFC showed normal boost. The car started fine. So I am 98% sure its in the line.
Ill replace the filter and hope the problem doesnt come back. The filter isnt to old, can they get clogged quickly?

Thanks again for the suggestions.
Now on to getting my TPS in range.
