2 problems ( stalling / hard to launch)

I recently bought a pretuned PFC. I'm sure that the pretuning is close for many cars but mine just happens to be a little off. I have a couple of problems that are extremely annoying. Here they are:

1. intermittent stalling when I push in the clutch while rolling to a stop (with AC on it's a definite stall)
2. the car is very hard to launch at low rpms (~1000rpm) I have to get the rpms about 1500rpm+ to get it moving and sometimes it stalls anyway. Seems like the high load low rpm values need to be adjusted.

Driving in traffic is especially annoying when these problems occur over and over. Each time I'm hoping the guy behind me doesn't run into me when I stall.

The car's relevant specs are:
- ported motor
- T04S single
- 550/1300 injectors

I have done the learning procedure and the motor now has 190 miles on it. Are these things something I can fix via the commander or do I need the Datalogit?

Has the PFC been set up for 1300cc secondary injectors?

There has to be somthing else very wrong for you to have those problems. Many of us here in Houston have bought PFCs pre-tuned for our mods, and haven't had any problems.

Bump up your idle speeds, add fuel to accereration map.

Chuck and those who have done the AC mod (1L-1E),

When you turn the AC on, does the PFC know that the AC is on? B/c when I try to up the AC idle value the engine speed stays the same. If I turn off the AC then turn on the rear defroster and up the load idle value the engine speed increases. Anyone?

I have seemed to resolve the stalling when I put in the clutch while rolling.

Some PFCs come already to plug in. Others require
cutting some wires on the connectors. All depends where you bought yours.

Some values in the PFC have to be changed compared to what is in the manual. This should have been done by your vendor.

Page 31: water temp correction:
50C = 1.25 LL 1.10 HL
30C = 1.37 LL
10C = 1.60 LL

Page 33: rpm settings for better control

F/C A.E 1200rpm
F/C E/L 1200rpm
F/C A/C 1200rpm
IDLE A.E 850
IDLE E/L 900
IDLE A/C 950
can be reduced to stock if yours idles OK!

All of this is for idle and deacceleration idle control.

Use the commander to verify that the A/C is switching on. Under ETC menue.

Chuck,
Thanks for the reply. Just for reference I bought my PFC from SR. I will verify the settings and post back what I find.

On thing that I notice when I made the fuel acceleration corrections for 1000 rpm is that the tip in is not consistent. Sometimes the engine doesn't hesitate to rev up and other times it does. I changed the setting from 2.0 to 1.5 to 1.0 and finally .5. It works best in the 1.0 area but still not consistent as I described above.

Thanks again,
Sergio

I made the changes to the water temp correction values. The car was starting ok before when it was cold so let's see how those values work for me.

In reference to you question about the AC switch, the commander doesn't see that its coming on. It also doesn't see the clutch switch either, not too concerned about this one since the car only starts with the clutch in anyway.

I did the AC hack but have since put it back to stock. Now I don't have any AC at all but I want to have full control of the AC idle when I do get it to work. Having the car stall on me everytime is just unacceptable to me. If the car were strictly track driven then it wouldn't matter. I drive my car to work/around town and the AC is very important since its cold here (Tampa, FL) only a couple of months out of the year.

I was talking to someone that also had AC problems with the PFC on a 95 car. The shop, Rotary Performance, that was tuning his car got the AC to work in all 4 fan positions by adding extra grounds. I'm waiting for him to tell me exactly what was done to try and do the same.

He was told the there was a slight voltage drop in the system that was enough not let the AC compressor to turn on.

I just don't understand, I have a new harness and my AC still doesn't work. Not even in any of the fan speeds!

If you PFC under ETC - Sensor/SW Check does not show the clutch engaging, then that could be your problem.

The clutch switch does affect idle.

Fix that first!

According to the test on page F-187 in the manual the clutch switch is DOA. Its a simple continuity test, there should be continutity when the clutch pedal is pressed in.

I will call around to get a price in the morning. I will report back when this is resolve.

Thanks!!!
