GA What are the fuel line fittings for an 89 vert

I'm in Vegas at the moment trying to order the last bit of stuff needed to get my LS1 89 Vert out the door. I currently have short rubber hoses hooked to quick connects to a corvette fuel filter right where they end under the driver's side foot area. A rubber hose goes from there up to the fuel rail.

I tried to fabricate a steel heat shield to protect the lines and filter from the heat from the exhaust tubes that go through there, but it looks like crap and is causing the quick connects to come loose. I noticed that when I was installing the stereo and turning the key to AUX started the fuel pump and I smelled gas!

What I would like to do is
1) get rid of the heat shield
2) run steel tubing up to the driver's side shock tower area
3) connect to the fuel filter there with a 90 degree fitting on top of the filter that runs over to the fuel rail.

What has anyone else done? I saw a fuel line through the wheel well picture and that didnt look to be too safe.
