My buddy is thinking of takeing his 98 stang and puting in a 13B-T S4/S5 engine.
Has anyone ever tried this swap?

 

IMO, that is one of the most retarded things I have ever read! Why you may ask, the mustang was over 3800 lbs. The torqueless wonder of a rotary will not get that fat *** moving! So your friend is giving up bottom end power for maybe an increase in topend(prolly not even noticable) and giving up reliablity for the sake of doing it and being unique! Sorry, no dice. Now a 3 rotor would make plenty since!

Words spoken from somebody who has no clue the effort/money it takes to do one.

If your buddy has a mustang, why would you do anything other than drop the 5.0 in it if more power is desired or put a SC on the V6, which brings you to the same level as the 5.0 for power with much less hassle? Sounds like he is a glutton for punishment or has far too much money. Owning a '98 'stang sounds like the former.

A rotary powerd stang i think that would be pritty sweet.

 

The lack of torque would make the car no fun to drive on the street. A three rotor would solve the problem but cost serious money. I have seen pics of a 20B powered 'stang.

A 5.0 would be easy. Lots of torque and horsepower for a lot less money.

If he is just after something different he should buy my turbo 13b Porsche 911. It would be a LOT cheaper than trying to build a fast rotary powered 'stang. Already has the 350 horse and onlt 2700 pounds.

 

i doubt your gonna save 100lbs swaping to a 13bT.
you need to do more research on what torque is and what horsepower is, and you will better understand why people are saying it wont work well regarless the port or turbo on a rotary motor.

 

It might make 350hp but thats not what moves the car. It's torque, and rotaries are known to be torquless bombshells.

Actually, torque to the pavement is what moves cars, which is entirely dependent on gearing.

sounds like a fools errand to me... more hastle than its worth... but if you got the time and money to waste on something thats gunna be dissapointing in the end, then more power to ya...

P.S. where is he gunna fit in? at any stang rally their gunna laugh you off the track, and the above response from the forum is enough evidence to show Rx7 lovers response regarding this monstrosity...
