I dont like the V8 Sound and i love turbos. So is there any other Engine which u can get into the rx7 FD with no big problems?

And dont tell me a supra engine. I read many threads and everywhere was the same problem.

PS: Does the 2.5 litre jz engine fits without any problems?

there sure is....the amazing vg30 series from nissan can be swapped in with the granny's speed shop kit....they even sell the drive shaft. vg30de is a v6 so no v8 sound.....stock it can handle more power than a 350 thanks to a well designed block and the rods can handle an *** load of boost....you really dont have to change rods or pistons till about 400+ hp and the block is damn near bulletproof.

BTW...he asked for an engine swap. If he cared about weight he wouldn't change engines. Why does everybody bring up weight dist. anyway when people ask about swaps, just help the guy out and answer the question. dont answer it with another question....geez

A large part of the reason LS engine swaps are so popular is that it doesn't affect the weight balance, you keep the handling but simply add power/torque/reliability. Other swaps if they are too heavy can and will screw up or at least have some effect on the handling, so what his goals are do matter.

ford's 2.4 turbo is an awesome engine. theyre not very advanced, but theyre really strong. you can just throw loads of boost at them, and the parts are super cheap. they came in 80s mustangs, thunderbirds, and the mercur xr4ti
for bigger power (or at least better lowend) i'd give the nod to the buick turbo v6. some dude ran 9s on one in an FC

Despite what kits are out there, no swaps are as easy as the V8 because it's so well-documented. Might even be easier than the old 3-rotor swap.

Seems like NONE of you can read. He said this was for an FD and NOT an FC.

^What the hell's your problem? You're the second person to even mention the FC in this thread, and the first person only mentioned it to point out that it wasn't an FD. YOU cannot read.

sounds like the Buick turbo V6 or the Nissan V6 is your best option out there as people have done it and you can find some info and help thru them and this forum if you search and arent totally clueless/helpless.

otherwise, you can fit almost any motor you want to if you have the time and money and skill or a shop to use that wont leave you stranded with a half done project.

dont like the sounds, ROFL, thats one of the lamest reasons to pick a swap.
OMFG WTF seriously, GTFO.

OR..................

do a V8 swap with a rearmount turbo setup!
nothing wrong with that!
geeez.
like this rear-mount-turbo setup on a GTO in my city... thats very possible for an FD as well, I'm surprised more people dont do this.

I have no idea where the turbo would fit unless you raised the car monster truck style.

well then get out the sawzall and welder and make some space for it.
if people can fit two mufflers side by side on an FD then they can fit a rear mount turbo in there somewhere somehow.
