SR20DET'd RX7 1/4 update

Previous best was 11.16@126mph and that was 22psi and a 50shot. Added new HKS cams and built the bottom end with rods/piston. With NO NITROUS the car went 11.24@127 at 22psi with a crap 1.74 60ft time. Car put down 396@wheels on pump gas and 22psi with NO nitrous.

http://www.eng.fsu.edu/~jthagard/upgrade/

BTW, I recently went 11.15@126 in my new setup. Didn't have time to re-jet the nitrous so it was running ***** rich on the FJO wideband, 10.3:1, and the tranny 2nd gear was slipping. This was 14psi and 100shot. BTW, ever see what it looks like when you leave the nitrous running while the car is idling?

Is that in a older 240Z???
It doesn't look like a 7

edit- Just checked your profile and it says you have a 240Z, so my question is why does the title say sr20det'd RX-7 when its a sr20det'd 240Z???
The car the engine is in doesn;t look anything like a 7, but thats a sweet 240Z you have there.

Sorry, the pic is of a twinturbo 240z and not the SR20DET'd RX7. I did provide a link to the pics, but will provide it again. The results I posted 1st were of the SR20DET'd RX7, 11.24@127.

I got a question for you 240z twinturbo, how long does your belts last with your headers and turbo so close to the pulleys?

Well, have not had any issues thus far regarding the belts. If it did become an issue some heat shields could be fabricated. I imagine it could, if enough heat was present, allow the belt to stretch some. However, the the strings within the belt help to hold a majority of the tension, not the rubber.

I've been looking for a good motor to swap into my 7. I've always loved the look of the RX-7 but I hate the rotory. IMO it is one of the most impractical motors to have in a daily driven street car and it sucks to tune cuz you are constantly hoping you don't blow 4 grand out the exhaust. Anyway I'm looking for a good replacement that won't mess up the near 50 / 50 balance of the car (so V-8s are out) The SR20 is looking like a nice way to go. So i just have a few questions about the swap.

1 - what kind of tools will be needed
2 - what mods to the car do you have to make
3 - when everything is said and done how much does it cost
4 - what kind of trans and rear end did you use
5 - what is the max hp and psi the SR20 can handle stock v.s. built up and how much does a build up cost

thanks

P.S. very nice and clean install !!!!

This is a really old thread to begin with.

It's been stated a couple of times already that this is a 240Z, not an RX-7. Dunno why the thread starter mistitled it.

Then you need to start over with your search because V8's do NOT mess up the 50/50 weight balance of the car...
