Sr20det fb

Well, I have 2 FB RX7s and between both I don't have enough good parts to rebuild a good 12A. So I am dropping in an SR20DET. Currently I am waiting to get the engine pulled and sourcing an engine to go into the car. I'll take some photos and post them once the build is started

Today I picked up a Ford 7.5 rear axle fron a 95 V6. I'll have large 10.5 inch rear disc brakes, an axle with some modern aftermarket support and plenty of gear ratios to choose from. Plus, I know from experience they can take major abuse as proven by my turbo Mustang and 84 GT having them

Everything has finally arrived except the S13 subrame. 300ZX front brakes are readily available and will easily stop a car this light. My main issue is what tires to run on a 16x8 wheel, 16s are required to clear the front and rear brakes. Any ideas?

Well, finally all the parts have arrived and are getting installed. It's been like 2 months of waiting for 1 part. The first subframe that was ordered was bent and not usable. Looking at May if not huhing goes catastrophically wrong

There isnt much to see right now. It mostly looks like the engine and transmission are pulled. I'll try to get a few loaded up later though

I have a blacktop at my hangar now, I looked into this swap a bit ago and found one or two ridiculous builds, but I don’t have the fab work experience to go near that project

And the shop finally got the last major parts for this nightmare to start getting worked on. Do you know how hard it is to find a company that will custon build a set of front coilovers that work with an S13 front end into an FB? Only 1 company was willing to try it and they were $950. If they don't work they will at least fix any issues.

So the car was actually cranked last month for a bit. There was an issue with some of the parts ordered and the entire project is currently halted. The axle still needs to be cut down to fit. The gas tank with baffles, a pump and filter that was ordered for $1600 doesn't even fit and the vendor is refusing to fix it or refund the money. Still need to find wheels that will clear the 300ZX brakes and fit under the fenders that don't look stupidly large, I might just say **** it and get some R32 GTR wheels and fender flares. Still need sticky tires to fit those wheels. Still need tuning, fuel system, brake lines and manual booster done. I still have to decide on exhaust and how I want it run. I also need to choose a front mount intercooler or air to water cooler. An air to water cooler would allow a water tank to be set into the factory spare tire location and that could help with traction. Also, i need to decide on how to do the rear control arms, 3 link with panhard bar, 4 link with panhard bar or 2 link with torque arm and panhard bar. So still at least another year of fab work and money but it is coming together. A link to some 1 inch fender flares would be amazing and greatly appreciated
