I don't think that the SR is such a great engine. It is factory turbo'ed but I agree that the Toyota 3sgte engine is better. Nissan did alot of stupid things on it, such as going through all the trouble to make it DOHC, adding all of that weight to the top of the engine, and then keeping rocker arms! Second, it is a timing chain engine, which I don't like as much as timing belts. Also, go to www.phase2motortrend.com and check out the prices of maintenance parts. That doesn't look very good to me, especially if I am using the car as a daily driver.

I've had my 240sx for a while now, and in the last 3 years the SR20 has start to become popular, I have thought about getting one of the OEM turbocharged engines, and decided that unless I could easily get these parts here, it isn't worth it to me to have an engine that I have to hope to find general maintenance parts at a performance shop, or order a part and wait 6-8 weeks for it to arrive. I would stick with the LS1, as it has been proven in these cars.

The 6 speed transmission is "weak" because it is the same transmission housing as the previous generation Silvia/180SX's (s13 and s14) but they crammed 6 gears into it instead of 5.
