RB26DET-powered FD - Here come the flames

Guys, I won't ask what you all think of this because most of you will hate it, but here's some photos of a soon-to-be-running FD with an RB26DETT (now single turbo so it'd be RB26DET).

The builder estimates over 1,000 hp to the rear wheels out of the engine and turbo. I guess there are other things to put into the car than an LS1...

Nice. Much better than an LS1 imho.

I like the 335's up front and the stock sized rims in the rear. Guess that will cure any understeer problems but you may have problems with 1000+ rwhp

btw, is the rear flared?

Ha ha, they're actually not stock in the rear. The back-end is widebody (as will be the front). The wheels are Weds.

Reminds me of the 2JZ FD that SP Engineering built. Is that turbo big enough?!

Looks good to me! It does look like no lights going fit in the passenger side, but I have a distinct impression that the owner could care less.

Great idea but cutting that many holes in the car to make it fit sucks.

Nice project. Too much horsepower for me but it's very cool.

Edit- Those wheels look like they will put a lot of stress on the wheel bearings. Am I wrong in thinking this?

As long as your engine is still turbocharged adn RWD I don't care! Looks like a fun project to me. Similar to the Silver SR20 FD I saw in a mag a couple years ago.

How big is that charge piping?!

Sick. Wish I had the money for that swap and all the fabrication necesary. If you don't mind me asking, how much modification was done to the subframe for the RB?

I'm a Skyline and general Nissan fan to the bone. I don't think I'd do that particular swap, but there is a bad-assed-ness that's undeniable. Should be fun.

I look forward to seeing some more pictures.

Man, I would NOT spend the money on that swap, but the fact that someone else has is awesome. The RB26 is a really great engine. A lot of people don't understand its potential. I'd love to see it running.

that cage worries me, looks like it cuts right in front of the drivers line of sight, and its like a mile away from the a-pillar!

the engine.... meh. whatever floats your boat. i still think the 13b is more than capable of making great power for gunning around a track, but if you gotta have 1000hp go for it. seems pretty cool, atleast he's pushing that engine to its limit.

Sick idea. I'm a huge fan of the RB26 being a Nissan owner myself(SR20 powered S13 in my collection).

I disagree with the 'way better than an LS1' idea, as I think you're talking about flagship engines from different companies from across the pond. Two things the LS1 has over the Rb26, is legality in the states, and weight/balance that makes it better than the RB26 for swaps here in the U.S.

Still, the RB26 is a badass idea. +1 for putting one of my top 5 favorite engines in one of my 2 favorite cars.

That doesn't matter at all. As long as it's welded to the frame and welded to the halo, it's completely independent of relying on any structural aspects of the unibody.

It does matter that it could effect the drivers vision, that is why it is best to keep it as close to the pillars as possible to minimize obstructions.

i wasnt saying its not a safe cage or not effective, im just saying its gonna be right in the drivers face all the time.

If it were running right through the line of site of the driver, yes. The padding could be taken off if it were found to be an issue. The car is obviously a straightline vehicle so don't try to make an issue out of nothing.
