I have been really busy with work lately, but I had a chance to get a few things done. I took it up and had a 4 wheel alignment and it drives perfect now, better then my 240 ever did. I put on a bunch of silicon reducers and an air filter that came in last week, I pretty much have all my boost leaks fixed. I have been tweaking it and taking it out on test drives all night and I finally have it where Im happy. I added a fan which has helped alot. Next step is to get a new exhaust made
O yea I made the hood fit by shaving the inside of it and taking off the timing cover and backplate, but then it rested right on the belt. I just put some kind of material over the hole for the time being. Attachment 706378 Attachment 706379 |
looking good! Any vids up?

the car is getting tuned right now, ill have some when it gets back

A 13B-REW will run for a long, long time at the 300 rwhp level. Unreliable? Only if the owner does something stupid. I just don't really see the point to all this work. I don't have anything nice to say otherwise, so I'm not going to say anything at all :) |

Do you have any pictures of the downpipe routing? Or anyone with this type of swap?

you don't want pics of my downpipe routing, Im just using the stock rb25 downpipe, it crosses over by the shifter, the exhaust Is next on my list to get redone
updates?
Sorry for the lack of updates, my car has been sitting up at my local tune shop for like 2 months waiting for a discontinued power fc for my rb25. I should be picking it up this week.
the car is back in business and running better then ever, but now the clutch is shot lol. It never ends
very nice build, im looking at this same swap for my 93 i was wondering tho how much of an issue was the wiring of the motor? and updates one the car tho!

I think if you have to ask that question, you shouldn't do this swap. Wiring is the LEAST of your worries, and this is comming from someone who has this swap on his FD.

Why do you still have all that wiring mess under the hood? Snippidy snip.
don't worry I just pulled the engine tonight, I have a lot planned for this winter!
any work done?
yea the car is disassembled and at the paint shop right now. Im working on replacing all the gaskets and cleaning up the engine.
Its that a universal radiator? Or is it a car specific?
its for a 240sx with a ka, the necks are on the same side as rb radiator
Thank god You changed the Subframe Id bet that if you were to slide in to a curb or take a hard enough hit You would shear those long bolts right off
Pretty Sick I love the sound of an Rb even tho i'd never swap one in I prefer the 1jz its much cheaper here in canada I can get a Complete swap Out of a front clip for about $2gs the rb25/6 got for much more than that |
my front clip was 3k, im happy how it is turning out even though i had to go through so much work and money to get it were it is now
Holy shit; I can't believe I'd not seen this until now.
I hope that you've redone every inch of work (and exhaust) that was under that car when the subframe was reworked. I've seen some ghetto work before, but, wow, words fail. At least the new stuff you've pictured is, better. I don't know that I'd say "great" but, definitely better. Good luck with your plans with it. A few more drafts and you might actually have something. |
bad cell phone pics, better pics will be up soon...

Good to hear. I like the concept. Looks like the execution is catching up with the idea.

Where did you get those RE CF light surrounds? Are they for the EVO-R kit or the RE-A kit?
Im not really sure what kit they are for. I bought them on ebay for like $250. My light kit is all peiced togeather and the fitment is not as good as I would like. Im going to sell the whole kit and by something else eventually.
I did the same project lots of work

Another RB25 RX-7! Have you got a thread on this? I want to do an RB26 one.. I am sure I will get plenty of stick for it! It has only been done twice that I can find and guess it is a bit more of a mission to do! But hey.. That's the fun! I have been following this thread on and off and fair play to you buddy..
What did you do on the electrics/ECU side.. I don't remember reading anything about that. Was it hard? Keep up the work. Lee |
Looks like a interesting and time consuming build. All in all, good job on being patient with it. What color you painting it, and what are you doing to the motor now?
looking good
