driftking777 12-15-08 07:46 PM

you can call me an A-hole ect. but im not particularly liking your mount setup, nor your "spacer kit" Looks very half ass. I personally am not a fan of taking short cuts. but thats just me.

rXzach93fd 12-15-08 09:08 PM

they are temporary, like i said not complete

turbodsm17 12-15-08 09:42 PM

the whole idea and execution.... fail

rXzach93fd 12-15-08 10:15 PM

lol

veedubbed 12-15-08 11:16 PM

LMAO!!!! The whole thing is so f'n ghetto, I love it. Function over form in its purest form, baby. Looks like your close to getting it running, keep it up man!!

JustinStrife 12-15-08 11:25 PM

It's not as Ghetto as some of the FD's I've seen in the 3rd gen picture thread. And if he gets it running right, it'll be a hundred times more reliable than anything they have.

rXzach93fd 12-16-08 09:47 AM

everything is going to get cleaned up, i have a custom subframe being built at the moment, but i havent decided what im going to use for the mounts.....

dbragg 12-16-08 11:26 AM

youre a little close to the radiator...just a little ;)

owen is fat 12-16-08 12:09 PM

wow that scares the hell outta me!

the subframe spacers.
the mounts.
the contact with the radiator.

so scary, and thats just what I see with a quick glance! eeeeeeek!

but I know how a big build can look goofy while being in-the-works, so no hard feelings, just want you to address the problems with a quality solution.

cool setup, that'll be fun. props!

rXzach93fd 12-16-08 02:35 PM

yes its not complete yet, and for any haters here is a few words from the guy who is helping me do most of the work, we have this on other thread and everyone things they are expert mechanics, this is what he had t osay

'ok first off, the steering shaft isnt a butt weld lol, pics of that seems to be it but trust me its a tube slipped over the shaft, its not even done yet.

next hockey pucks yeah they work and im going to stand by them 100% get on other forums and what not these things dont deteriorate for years.

your whining about a subframe that has been spaced? ok this subframe doesnt support the engine anymore, there isnt anymore lateral wieght being thrown around when there is hard braking or a hard pull.

This thing will be perfectly safe to drive, i wouldnt give anyone a car that i thought it would just break on them. I would love to see a subframe just fly out a car rofl or the motor end on on the road.

These arent finished pictures of the car, the front subframe area we have talked about adding more bracing and tying it to the chassis. He wont need to have this redone, these thing isnt going to break on him, trust me ive done some shit lol and this stuff is gonna be alright, if somone wants to hate on this come out and look at it in person, see it infront of your face, and then hate on it please feel free too.''

NiteFD 12-16-08 02:45 PM

I hardly call the DriftSTL gang experts lol. However, the build looks good to me. I want a ride when it's finished. Probable smoke my FD anyway...

KaoticFdR1 12-16-08 04:06 PM

i've half assed some stuff before and gotten lucky...but then i went back and re did it. but even this scares the hell out of me.

rXzach93fd 12-16-08 04:32 PM

hey nitefd, what your name man? we need to meet up sometime, me and my other fd friend are going to have a meet when my car gets done, you should come

roachdiddy 12-16-08 05:08 PM

its expensive to do it right...

NiteFD 12-16-08 05:19 PM

Nite is just a name I used to use when I did online gaming, and obviously FD is what my car is. I am fine with meeting up. Could be a good time...

Narfle 12-16-08 06:09 PM

WoW you turned a really nice car into a complete PoS. What a hack job. Then again you could have done it right and it would still be worse off stock for stock.

Die In A Fire,
Barban.

P.S. your welds look like shit. Even for MIG welds.

I read through the entire thread, and wasn't going to post until reading this ;)

A 13B-REW will run for a long, long time at the 300 rwhp level. Unreliable? Only if the owner does something stupid. I just don't really see the point to all this work.

I don't have anything nice to say otherwise, so I'm not going to say anything at all :)

rXzach93fd 12-16-08 11:38 PM

like i said its not done yet once again, you cant judge it without seeing it in real life either, its getting a different subframe, poly bushings for motor mount, a lot more support for diff and tranny mount, all welds getting cleaned up, you guys get all freaked out and its not even complete, i realize it likes ghetto right now, but wait untill im done before you judge please.....no need for people to tell me to die.....come on are you 10 lets be a little more mature...................

hahaha wait before we judge?
we are judging you on what you have shown us so far.
if you dont want us to see the sketchy mounts, etc. then dont take pics of them to show us!

isnt that simple?

I hear ya, and interesting budget, getting pretty steep though.... I think you will need/want some very high quality tires, and FRESH ONES as this build is taking a long time. I know from experience that fresh tires are lightyears better than even year-old tires that have been stored properly.

rXzach93fd 12-18-08 08:10 AM

you guys asked for progress, so thats what you got!

JTurtonRX_7 12-20-08 06:58 PM

clean build, really like the body lift kit

JustinStrife 12-20-08 07:07 PM

I hope to see pictures and videos when she's done. Always loved the sound out of those nissan 6cyl's.

rXzach93fd 12-20-08 07:48 PM

i dont think i will evan waste my time posting video or any more progress for people to just say it looks like shit...

Miata_mx5 12-21-08 10:46 AM

You are posting on a public forum. What do you think people are going to say???

its not anyone picking on you. the work that we see done isnt done very well. the welds dont look good, the spacing you did was half asked, etc. i know you say your going to fix it... but why not just do it right the first time? it takes so much more time to do it then take everything back out just to do it again.
i like the idea of throwing out the 13b and doing your rb. you have a lot of money into your project. just take your time and to it the best you can!
good luck man

GoodfellaFD3S 12-21-08 02:16 PM

Throw out the 13B.......to make 300 rwhp. I have to say, I don't get it.

It's an RB, even though it was sold in what was equivalent of a G35 Coupe in it's day, it was crafted by the hand of god.

It can handle 600 hp on stock internals and run 10s.  Didn't you know all RB's can automatically do that just because of the designation??

No one get's it either.

this might be the most ghetto motor swap i've ever seen.

yea i think im going to replace the washers with fruit loops, and use doughnuts for the motor mounts..

lol

rXzach93fd 12-23-08 12:38 AM

new subframe came in today, but i wont bother anyone with pics lol, also added more support for diff and tranny and finished up exhaust, all the wiring is done, just waiting on throttle body....it will be on the rode by next weekend

jacobcartmill 12-23-08 01:13 AM

are you going to reinstall your 1" lift kit on the new subframe?

roachdiddy 12-23-08 08:38 AM

now your just going out of your way to be a dick. my guess is he bought the tech 2 sub frame and that will eliminate all the spacing issues he had?

rXzach93fd 12-23-08 09:05 AM

i had the subframe made and it is like the tech 2, its tube but the motor mounts are not attached to it, there are no spacers now

Tyburn 12-24-08 04:02 AM

It seems you are going to have a VERY unique car. I'd like to hear how it sounds when it's done. Looks like whole lotta work but it also looks fun! keep up the good work!

well thanks, i think that the first nice comment i have

rXzach93fd 12-28-08 10:17 AM

ok she runs now, but still some things need to be worked out. I had to find a bigger fuel pump for one, I will put that in today. The next thing is overheating, so Im going to try and move things around and fit another fan on the radiator, if that doesn't work I will have to get a koyo or something...

roachdiddy 12-28-08 10:27 AM

spal fans. thats all you need. a 12" puller and a 10" pusher.

sinned2545 12-28-08 01:07 PM

Interesting swap.. y not LS1??

P.s.
U gotta lighten up man... like someone posted, not everybody is gonna agree with u.. As long as its what u want, Dont listen to everybody else.
I heard the same type of talk just for buying a FD...
And i tell u what, it was the best decision i ever made..
