> I've already seen 2 people who have attempted/already did the RB20DET swap. I'd sty it's a good idea. Hell my friend suggested that the other day, and after some snooping around, I say do it. Just be prepared to fab up some mounts like it's 1999.

well guys for the last 3 years ive been a 240 guy. ive owned 2 sr20det'd s14's and when i found my fd, i started to part back out my last 240. well as of yesterday im pretty sure that my motor went in my FD... im a student and in school full time so i cant afford to do a motor build or do an lsx swap at the time. sr20det's are very reliable and cheap to maintain and build.. and i already have a perfect one sittig on a pallet in my shop right now. so i think i might be joining you guys on this sr20det/rb20det into an fc/fd. let me know how complicated these mounts are to do!

wouldn't be a rx7 without the rotary but you can always call it the srx7. i was planning to do that when i first bought the car but decided to stick with the rotary. good luck with the build. seigo yamamoto has done the swap he used to drift the chaser in formula d. i might still have some of the emails from about what he did with the swap

Sorry I never got around to completing this.. I am working on them now.. Had some untimely events occur in my life.. and now I am back on the Road to Creating mounts.. I Current have a KA24DE (same as SR Mounts) that I am working on... Should be completed in the next 2 weeks and I will post pictures of what the installation looks like.

The RB20DET is the 2.0L Straight six from the R32 GT-S variants.
The engine is anemic, gutless stock, and does not have much "potential". Hell if you want that....at least try to swap in a Toyota 1g-gte (2.0L 24 Valve I-6 Twin Turbo). At least it's twin turbo instead of a 2.0L I-6 Single turbo that is from an engine series that is infamous for oiling/oil pump issues.
If you want an RB series you should swap in at least an RB25DET NEO or RB25DET.
RB26DETT is very difficult, and you need to use an R33 GTS25-T 5 speed transmission to make it work. Not to mention custom driveshafts, and all the other junk involved with swapping an RB in it.

Harder to find parts for it than it is a late 80's skyline straight 6....
They do look promising and cost the same as a rb20. Rb20 can use usdm 240sx trans though. Making gearboxes o plenty and cheap. Same goes for sr motors and replacement parts are easy to come by.
All up to you.
This engine is SO uncommon that this is the FIRST i've heard of it and i've been researching all sorts of yota swapping options. IUZ, 1j, 2j, 3sgte (altezza powah), and finally the 4age family. 20v bluetop to be exact.....
I'm going to do some homework on it. Sounds cool. Wonder if 1j/2j parts are compatable.... I doubt it. Oh, and check that **** out. I SPY DIZZY and a (you guessed it) flapper box!!!!! Sweet. Not really....

Make some mounts for SRs and RBs and they will sell like mad to UK owners as SRs and RBs are everywhere here.
Do it soon enough and ill have some now, esp RB.
PS- RB26 to RWD is barely any more work than RB25 or RB20 so no worries there. Ive had a RWD RB26 car and a friend has just finished his.
