DAMN...... i thought i would be the only person in the world crazy enough to do this.... my heart is broken but it is a relief too because now i have people to talk to and get some help from.

the setup i am planning on running is gonna cost me around 2000 and i am getting hooked up by some buddies and it will make anywhere from 350-450 horse and bring home a 12 second timeslip. i am gonna run a stand alone and wiring wont be a problem. i am gona do some bottom end work and you gotta replace the pistons but the rods hold up to somethin like 400 horse is what i've heard. i will keep in touch as the progress moves along and i am sure i will have some problems but it will be worth it in the end.

good luck,
DAvid

here is one piece of eye candy for you guys for now, i will try and get updated pics this weekend if im at my parents house.

http://good-times.webshots.com/photo...63758466QGavaN

what your looking at if you cant tell is the engine mounts. There are 2 mounts that hold the engine up basically. The one big bar is the support for the engine. I'm using solid mounts so i need that big bar to stabilize the engine from ripping apart the mounts. As you can see the mounts are far back and low as i could go w/o having the oil pan be in danger of scrapping the ground. Also you can see that the crossmember is right there so a custom oil pan and oil pickup is needed to make this setup work.

Talking ka-t swap

i think this is an awesome idea, i just picked up a fc3s shell the other day and i have been building a ka24det for my s13 i happen to have another ka24de sitting around the shop so my wife happens to ask me "can you stick the ka24 into the fc, so i can drive the it?" So I've been trying to find somewhere that shows or explains how this is done. THANK GOD I FOUND YOU GUYS!

So first off i want to say to hell with the rest of them! the only reason why the sr20det became popular was because japan only built s13 w. sr20 and the ka24 was never released outside of the truck in japan. The KA24DET craze is slow to catch on in japan because it's just more effecient to keep the stock engine in your car. And there-fore everyone wants to be JDM and BAM! you find all these people with sr's. We go lucky here in the states our s13's came with ka's. These people are stupid, ever heard the old saying "There is no replacement for displacement" Why the hell do you think they have stroker kits for all types of engines and why do you bore out engine blocks? BIGGER DISPLACEMENT! ka's are almost half a liter bigger then a sr. Hell is bigger than some 6 cyl. RB (skyline) engines!!! SR20DET vs. KA24DET a ka tuned right will win hands down! OK SO if you have an sr great for you! if not SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT OUR KICK *** KA'S just cuz your jealous! j/k lol.. (not to get me wrong sr's have some great advantages too, i'm just sick of people always putting down the ka's)

I'm sorry i had to get that off my chest.

Anyways I'm trying to do a temp ka24 swap in my fc, do you think it would be worth it or should i just wait till i have the money for an LS1/LS6 combo. Although I really like the idea of a ka24 swap cuz I've always been one to try the odd stuff, For One i happily left my KA in my s13 and my other KA is being bored to a 2.X turboed blah blah blah hopefully we will be pushing 450-500hp at the wheel but thats another story all-together. Anyways all and any help is appreciated!

new pictures for you guys
http://good-times.webshots.com/album/557601634btfEKd
pictures show engine mounts, turbo setup (v-mount), custom oil pan, engine placement, and custom dashboard. everything is kinda messy, but its slowly coming together. tell me what you guys think! BTW some stuff is jerry rigged to help with placement and stuff, but the finial vision is what is all about.

Im joining the club... For all of those who want a **** free enviroment head over to Forced industries Dedicated to the Oddball swaps in RX7's and 280ZX's (I have both) Im going to pick up the FC tommorow and being a Nissan guy and an EX / current 240sx owner i have at least 4 KA's sitting behind my house... The first thing on the agenda is the mounts and positioning... Then once its in the drivetrain will be addressed, even after that the EMS will be installed and then the turbo setup. None of my toys are daily's (my "00" limited Exploder is my comfy reliable tow vehicle)

Come visit me over at the site and we'll start a whole new generation of RX7 owners... =) Just look at www.hybridz.org .....

Im also using the site for some open source design and fabrication so dont be alarmed when you see my alerts etc.... Remeber its open source so its not like anyone is out to steal any ideas (you can have mine as well) I will be making mounts for the FC and KA/SR/CA swaps as i have the knowhow and the tools (not to mention a design via 3d modeling and autocad)...

Hope to see everyone there...

Dont know how old this thread is and if ur done with the swap or not yet...its not hard...i just put an SR in my fc...u just have to make motor mounts, a tranny mount and a driveshaft, and u also have to make a rear sump oil pan since sr's are fronts sump and 13bs are not....its not that difficult....wiring is easy too...its just like puttin an sr into a 240 just requires a little fabrication...exhaust work also since the exhaust is on the opposite side.....try to get a steering rack from an 87....clears up a shitload of room in the engine bay....theres so much more room in an fc than there is in an s13 its rediculous...cool swap though man...u goin KA-T?

I've been searchin for some information as well, i've just stripped my FC completely, and got my KA24DE w/ internals, ready to go. Ive got Greddy E-Manage, but im thinking about doing a SA/ECU, and im doing the autometer gauges instead of doing the s13 gauge cluster mods. but i should be dropping my KA into the FC this week, so if anyone has more information please post, need some inspiration lol.

just wondering if you could give some insights as to how you converted the engine to be a rear sump?

Any pics of your swap which may help others?

i think it was justin pawluk that had a pic of a sr that was converted to rear sump, almost the same thing. i was about to do this and i actually have a ka24de oil pan that was cut and welded back backwards and i was going to use an elbow fitting and some stainless braided hose and just put a pickup on the end of it and have a floating pickup. it was the same that was done to the sr. i have the pan collecting dust if anyone thinks they can use it and wants to pay me to ship it they can have it. i gave up on the project as it is just too involved for me.
